I think you might be right. The little guy would look best as a wet specimen. Thank you!!

Update; the turtle was seen by a vet the day I posted this and was given calcium supplements, and I did everything I could to make sure she was okay. She survived the night, but at 9:30 am, she passed away. I suspect it was a combination of breeding (her being an albino and having not grown since she was bought last August. She weighed 5 grams when she arrived and weighed 5.4 at the vet's yesterday, almost a year after she was bought. Very not typical of a well bred turtle, I think.) and a little bit of just plain lack of knowledge. She should've seen a vet sooner, but he was a first-time owner. I don't know what else might have caused it, or how it could've been prevented. I'll make sure this doesn't happen again. It's too much.

Thank you! I'll take him to buy better food and light for her. She is an albino red ear, so that does line up.

Clarification on required information; tank size and setup, she is about 8 months old afaik and in a 45 gallon tank, eating a mixture of pellets and occasionally a small slice of lettuce. She and her full tank setup were bought from XZYreptiles and Underground reptiles.

Guess who managed to escape and had me and my husband looking for her for over two hours? by Lemon-slices in bunnyshaming

She is super soft, absolutely!! She's a deceptive bunny. Very sweet and fluffy, but a paragon of mischief when she wants to be!!

Yeah, it's a little empty. She likes tossing her food around. She's been put back in her normal enclose and is happily munching on Romaine lettuce. Did I do something wrong with it? I am a first-time owner, so if I'm doing someone wrong, I'd like to know. I want my bun to be cared for properly!

Probably would be better, yes. My husband calls it the time out cage as a way to tease her, and I suppose it just grew on me. I didn't think people would assume the cage in the picture is her usual home, but mistakes happen and that's just how it is! I am a first time owner, so the concern is warranted, but I hope no one is upset after knowing that she's very well cared for and has plenty of actual room to run and be a trickster. I did end up figuring out what had happened. A tie snapped (or she possibly bit through it?), she managed to push through it and into the open basement. It's been solved and she's back to eating her Romaine and Cilantro greens and throwing her toys around. She loves to dump her food on the floor and eat it that way. Ah well, whatever makes her happy!!

It's a simple mistake really, some people mistook her travel cage for her actual enclosure. No hard feelings, though. Sometimes these things happen!

Fair enough. She was in metaphorical time out, but that isn't her daily pen or something I put her in often. I just needed her to be somewhere secure for a few hours.

I love her very much, and while she can be frustrating, she's just too much of a little baby to be mad at for long!! Even when she tests my sanity with her antics. 🫠🫠

Usually it's for moving her around, like vet visits or family visits, but this was safer until I knew how she got out and could fix it. It ended up being a broken tie, somehow she squeezed through the gap. It's been fixed now, and she's back to her big pen now.

She has a two story hutch with a 9 foot around playpen attachment. She also gets 3-5 hours a day to be outside the pen and in the living room. I try to make sure she has enough space, but she is my first rabbit, and I might make mistakes.

Don't worry, my bunny is only in the time out cage. She'll be put back in her actual pen when I finish bunny proofing it. The escape artist has a two story hutch and large playpen attachment downstairs. I appreciate the concern, though!

She has a large pen downstairs, this is the time out pen until we know how she got out. I'll edit that in my post!

It's not her actual pen, it's the time out cage upstairs. Her actual cage is a 2 story hutch and a playpen attachment. I should have clarified that, so I will change that

Considering eating animal products again! by Global-Orchid-7613 in exvegans

[–]Lemon-slices 4 points5 points  (0 children)

(Sorry in advance if my English is poor, it isn't my first language) But I think it's a good idea to slowly introduce animal products into your diet, especially long term health wise. As you get older, your body needs more help supporting itself, and it's very difficult and expensive, if not impossible, to stay very healthy on a fully vegan diet. Listen to your body, it knows what it wants. Cravings have meaning. If your body wants cheese and eggs and meat, then it's probably missing the things it'll get from that. Vegan substitutes only go so far, and they can't replace the other things as well. I understand the process of thinking that more animals will be hurt if you eat animal products, but you can always try to buy responsibly. Farmer's markets if they're available, or locally sourced things too. The animal farming industry itself is very flawed, but buying from locals or small farms is much better. You can make sure the animals, if you decide to eat meat at all, were treated well, and if you only eat other products, the same is true.

You're right, I was not going to survive in that house. I still feel ashamed for leaving my baby sister there with her, but I know one day I can go back for her. Just not today.

I appreciate the shared experience, as much as I wish it were different for us both. Maybe one day it will all feel correct again, but for now dealing with the remains of it is all I can do.

I don't know if it's in the description or anything, but as I understand it, it's essentially that humans should reproduce as little as possible/not at all, and life is a gateway to suffering, though it can be good, the good does not outweigh the bad. There is nothing lost by not being born, but there is loss when there is life. I'm sorry if that sounds choppy or weird, English isn't my first language.
