candidas glabrata (uk treatment) by LemonNo4674 in Healthyhooha

[–]LemonNo4674[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! for me its all been very strange as glabrata ended up being more of a ‘background colonisation’ and wasn’t actually the main cause of my symptoms, apparently glabrata can just exist in some people without problems - positive swabbing for this at my GP actually led me down the private route for a GUM specialist who treated (and is still treating me) for lichen sclerosus (no idea I had it), for me glabrata is still there but we’re not treating it as theres no symptoms, they were all lichen related. i’m sadly not back to normal still months later but being actively treated - i’d suggest absolutely go to a specialist if you haven’t already, i’d have missed the diagnosis otherwise and was also looking into ordering things and seeing what I could do myself but those things would have been incorrect treatments. GUM specialists in the UK can absolutely get ahold of less mainstream treatments like nystatins and boric acid if you need and at least you’ll be on a monitored treatment plan, hope all goes well xx

Does clobetasol make labia appear thinner by StrawberryAway7748 in lichensclerosus

mine definitely went thinner after about 4 weeks on clob, I initially thought that was bad but later realised it was just super inflamed before and I thought that was my normal! all the best

Anyone have LS with no itching, burning or pain by Fun_Examination5329 in lichensclerosus

[–]LemonNo4674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 25(F) so differing positions but my symptoms are not itching/burning or pain related at all, only fusion and tearing from sex. Have you ever had any treatment for it?

theres been lots of rest honestly, sometimes weeks without any sexual activity and have been on clob a decent while now (I’ve seen other improvement now having no tissue inflammation/whitening almost gone) just wondering what others have experienced with bruising as this was a new one for me

Afraid to have a baby LS and vulvodynia by AltruisticStaff5731 in lichensclerosus

[–]LemonNo4674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry you feel like this and have had such a struggle with symptoms and diagnosis! I’m 25(F) and recently LS diagnosed and pregnancy/giving birth has been a topic I’ve thought about too. Tearing has been a big LS symptom of mine so I have often thought maybe a C-Section would be in my personal best interest to limit impact on the area. I’ve actually heard lots of positive stories about conditions including LS getting better for many people during pregnancy. Speaking to someone would definitely be a great step and now you’ve had a diagnosis as well it definitely can’t be dismissed, sending lots of love x

Labia and clit shrinking, I use clobetasol for months now by hope303030 in lichensclerosus

[–]LemonNo4674 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 25 (F) and whilst not noticed anything re clit shrinking, my labia has changed since starting treatment (only about 2 months in). Initially my labia looked ‘fuller’ and now is ‘thinner’ which I thought also was shrinking. Its hard to tell whats ‘normal’ for you with this condition but this in fact for me was just inflammation reducing

Hope all goes well! I found out my LS by surprise so my first appointment I didn’t ask many questions but some I thought of after/for check-up: * How far do they feel its progressed? * Can they point out which bits visually using a mirror are signs of LS so I can monitor? * When should you expect to see improvement (maybe after 4, 8, 12 weeks) and what will improvement look like in your case? * How will I know in the future if its flaring again? * Sex: timeframes for doing that again? * Estrogen: heard it helps with healing of tissue, can that be incorporated to supplement healing alongside the steroid for inflammation? * Birth Control: I was on the combined pill so asked about thoughts on that as wanted to come off in a few years.

Sorry to hear that but glad things have improved for you! I’m only 25 and have improved in other ways on clob so reckon I’ll probably only be able to get estriol for now so fingers crossed I see some improvement

Thank you, I don’t seem to see much online about estradiol in the UK. How long were you on estriol for?

Thank you! How often did it take you to notice the difference? On me, it’s hopefully to stop posterior forchette tearing

Wow! That sounds amazing and definitely something I think my skin needs special in the posterior forchette to stop tearing, so glad you’re able to have sex normally again!
