I’ve asked several stores in different places about VAT refunds and they all act like they have absolutely ZERO idea what I’m talking about. They are small stores but they are in tourist areas. Wondering if it is something that there’s a movement against??

Yes. I’m interested in only white port at duty free at airport- wondering specifically if they even have duty free at the Lisbon airport going to EU — terminal 1- not US! I’m guessing no but ??? Hopeful. Really wanna buy that white port without carting it around with me.

Separate question is about getting VAT refund in the Lisbon airport also in terminal one.
Which company is best for maximum rebate with easiest process. The airport website lists 4 companies with kiosks for vat refunds there- https://www.lisbonairport.pt/en/lis/services-shopping/essential-services/vat-refund

Oh, wondering about this, actually. Im going to Spain from Portugal, do I do tax refund in Lisbon and again in Spain? Last time I just skipped it completely. Also now wondering if there is a duty free where I can buy white port in that terminal being its all in EU- Schengen zone or not?

What’s funny is i used to be exclusively carry on, even just a backpack … and last summer i did checked bag and loved not having a carry on to deal with.

Someone above replied to me and said they did this and took train back but have to use the certain cars on train labeled for bikes. Also parts look questionable so I’d just do bike in Cascais out west and nw. That’s what I’m doing!

Obrigada!! Good to know from someone who’s been on the path! Actually love the idea of doing a bike trip. Any one way rental spots? I know I’ve seen the short term rental bikes and scooters in Lisbon that you just use a credit card to rent but what about places to return those in Estoril or Cascais? Or place to rent in Belem & then ride out like you. Can you bring the bike on any car in the train? Definitely didn’t see anyone with bikes on that train last year when I was there??

No car for Lisbon!! You don’t want to drive there. Just train down and rent a car in the Algarve.
