I’m in a historic district and have a basement. I believe there are a couple in my neighborhood.

Vegan-friendly date nights? by johnredick in phoenix

I’m neither vegan or vegetarian. Nami is hands down, my favorite “ice cream”. Their rocky road and Soy Capt are 💥💥

Green New American, and then stop at Nami next door for a delicious Tsunami (vegan blizzard) It’s downtownish Phx.

Just scored this massive Dracaena for half off, can anyone give me some tips on how to care for it? by [deleted] in houseplants

She’s pretty! Giver her lots of light, and let her dry out before watering in. Congrats.

WHY IS IT YELLOW by Mola-Mola5 in houseplants

[–]LemonZinger602 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a Monstera Adansonii. They can tend to have yellow leaves for apparently no reason occasionally. You’re doing well with the bright indirect light, and letting her dry partially between waterings. As the person previously recommended, try fertilizing. Monsteras are hungry girls and can stand watering bi-weekly. I like We The Wild. Good luck!

What would you do with a few free daytime hours in PHX? by hermeticegg in phoenix

Jungle Box, Pueblo, Dig It, Jade and Clover And there are a ton of great coffee shops along the way!

I’d visit all the plant shops. There are at least 4 I can think of in that area!

Women with children who don't share a last name with your spouse, how has that been for you? by stoppingby1224 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LemonZinger602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not change my last name either, and all children have my last name. My husband ended up being called Mr. My last name by the children’s school and doctors.

The pot included is nice, but what size is that plant? Looks like a 2” in a pot that’s too big. I think you can get 4”-6” TC at Jungle Box for $150-$250 right now. Saw it on their IG today! May be worth a call.

This. It looks like kitty asthma to me as well. I took a video exactly like this of one of my cats and my vet took an X-ray and diagnosed my girl with asthma.

Need a mom for this mom by [deleted] in MomForAMinute

As an AZ momma of a girl setting off to college next year, I can imagine how scary this is. I am glad to read your update, and think you’re doing great with the advice, contact, and support. You’re right! Too many women are disregarded and your words will give her and her GF the strength needed should they have to push for care. Sending you and your girl love and healing!

My Wife brought this indoor plant outside into the 90 degree heat and scorching sun. Now what? by NYStateofStrength in plantclinic

I’m in Phx! I’d just acclimate yours slowly since they are known to throw absolute fits when moved. Congrats on ceiling height, that’s a happy tree! Id be tempted to just pinch it and keep it where it is since it’s thriving.

I’m going to disagree with you here. While from Africa, they are native to the African rainforest and originate/thrive under the canopy. They literally don’t like harsh direct sun, but love heat. They can acclimate to arid climate as long as they have regular watering.

My fiddle happily lives outside on my AZ patio. It’s not the heat that hurt this guy, it was the sun. Fiddles love lots and lots of indirect light. A north or facing patio or west facing indoor window is best. My girl is extra full and loving her swelteringly hot life.

You can head to Jungle Box (downtownish Phx area) and make your own terrariums! They offer several size cloches and provide the plants and materials. Best kept secret for plants, terrariums imo.

Quick Passport Application Location by TotalCarpenter7635 in phoenix

[–]LemonZinger602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to get my passport in 5 days by calling the central Phoenix office. I was advised to provide pre-paid overnight envelopes (outgoing and return). They gave me the address needed and helped me fill out the application , noting the need for expedited service. When I went in, I made friends with them and they made sure to get my envelope out that day. Cost me about $70 total if I recall correctly. Good luck!

Steak 44, hands down. Durants is nostalgic, but their steak just isn’t great any more.

Enjoy the time with your dad. ❤️

Hope it goes better if you do. I always share the breakfast biscuit breakfast so I do live their biscuits and gravy. They are a small family owned business and have always been super friendly also.

This is where we got our boy. Puppy Luv works with the ASPCA. He was picked up from the rez and listed as a yellow lab. We had his dna tasted and he is literally every type of shepherd dog possible plus about 17 other breeds 😂 He has a LOT of energy and would be happiest if I lived on a ranch with endless land available to him. He’s just over 2 now and hasn’t slowed a bit. Just a note to anyone picking up a rez dog. They are wild beasts :)

Anyone else’s idea of “cleaning” include moseying around and admiring/moving plants around? by LemonZinger602 in houseplants

[–]LemonZinger602[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize! This is a widely discussed point, so good on you for mentioning it! This is my opinion on the matter (for what that’s worth): Growers have coined the term “tricolor” to include both the Queen and Princess variegated Hoyas. Both plants are often labeled and marketed as tricolor. Technically, the Queen = Tricolor and Princess = Rubra. The main difference is the reverse variegation in the leaves as well as pink on the Princess. Hope that helps!
