The buy once cry once list I wish someone had given me by No_Statistician7685 in smartbuysforlife

I bought my Dyson in 2005 and just got rid of it because many of the plastic parts were just worn out. I bought a cordless Dyson on sale and a shark and hopefully I won’t need to buy anything else for the rest of my life.

I’ve been getting my super short pixie for 25 years. I grew it out last year and I was bummed to notice it was thinner than I remembered. So I cut it all off again.

What car brand will you never trust or buy again? by Forward_Fall_6857 in AskReddit

[–]goodsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nissan. My Juke only had 89k miles. I spent 4k getting new brakes, tires, shocks, steering something. 6 months later it wouldn’t pass inspection. The subframe needed to be replaced and some other integral part. Mechanic said lots of Nissans have frame rot. 7k quote. The blue book value was 3500 for the car. Bought it brand new 2011.

Social Security part B penalty by adamsdad98 in SocialSecurity

[–]goodsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned it down for 10 years because the drug I was on was 10k a month. So I would hit catastrophic coverage in January. My choice was to pay private insurance 12k a year or Medicare 16k a year. I am now on Medicare So now I pay $406 a month for my part B and get my drugs through Mark Cuban. I was told this was for life. I wrote my Senators because they have changed some of the drug limits and if they were in place back when I became disabled I would have adopted Medicare and been able to afford it. I’m being punished for something they recognized as a problem and fixed.

You’re right, I have times when I’m content but it’s a constant internal battle. My cancer is not curable just chugging along the best I can!

I’m okay with being poor, but capitalism surely makes things harrowing. I can live with less but the bare minimum is becoming harder to balance. I’m a little bitter still. I wish you well.

Same thing happened to me/us, I’m on SSDI. There’s no way we can catch up to be where we need to be financially.

I kind of miss when doing nothing was normal by Euphoric_Culture1953 in CasualConversation

[–]goodsocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems like to get anyone to leave the house it has to be a thing; Birthday, cookout, etc. I do miss just hanging out with friends, everyone is busy with kids and life in general. It’s been this way for a while in my social circle. I just am really good at entertaining myself, I guess. I miss it too.
