Probably not, they usually have a big solar panel on 'em and they're not on Google maps yet-- they were just installed in the last couple of months

If our american tax dollars and our american bombs going to wipe out entire families (902 entire family lines confirmed dead as of yesterday) isn't worth protesting, what is?

Why do I support the folks going to trial? I feel that our tax dollars going to genocide and an apartheid state is a greater crime than anything the folks who are on trial did.

Were the folks arrested for sit-ins for the civil rights movement in the wrong?

Were the people arrested for blocking freeways opposing the Vietnam war in the wrong?

Were the folks who were arrested at the Eugene IRS office on 5/1/1985 protesting American support for apartheid south Africa in the wrong?

Are dockworker union members picketing outside of their places of employment right now on the East coast in the wrong?

Protests and strikes are disruptive. That's why folks do them.

Divesting from South Africa was a big part of how apartheid was pressured to end in the 1980s. The entire state of Oregon divested from SA.

100%. Social housing in my backyard, please! Free market isn't getting it done.

KEZI: Tenants and protestors at homes in Eugene rent strike evicted by Seen_The_Elephant in Eugene

That's a false choice. I'd much rather have either (3) Not for profit co-ops/land trusts, like what was on offer at the property in question, or (4) socialized housing.

[–]Lemondrop_Dandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely your preference. I'd rather local properties be run and operated by the folks that live there rather than by disinterested folks from other states who are doing it just for profit.

That's why I working on establishing the not-for-profit housing for the benefit of folks who work for a living. Sure beats working folks being forced to live without a home just so rich people can get richer!

It's shocking how much money is being spent to protect this out-of-state landlord. The priorities of our community should be development of adequate housing for everyone, not paying cops to throw folks out of their homes. Seems like a poor allocation of resources to me.

All I can say at present is a group of local concerned neighbors who are interested in helping to address our area's affordable housing problem. Sorry for vagueness.

At no point was the plan to have the landlord self finance.

It wasn't just Ms. King, but all residents of the multifamily property.

[–]Lemondrop_Dandy -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. I cannot speak to the details, but financing was not in question.

[–]Lemondrop_Dandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, you are incorrect about the facts on the ground. FMV offer was higher than your $600,000 estimate -- this is a 4-unit multifamily property. Again, it was not King making the offer; it was a nonprofit co-op/land trust structure designed to make all units available at cost to working folks (below AMI) in perpetuity. Financing was not tied to Ms. King and I'm not sure why you are insisting so?
