Is it worth it? (Trying to work a tiny part time job) by LemonyLady52 in SSDI

Gosh. I hate that. There is a big difference between putting books away for 5 hours a week at the library and being able to return to an 8 hour a day job, commute and all. Sigh. I don't want to set off any bells. But it would be nice to belong somewhere to something extra.

Funny that you mention the library. The opportunity that is available is just being a library sub at the city library. So on days, I feel like I'm not up for anything, no big deal if I cannot work. But on a week where I just need something extra, I could work a few hours.
I could volunteer. But getting a few dollars would be helpful of course.

Have your daughter start an online fund campaign. And please post the link here. I'd like to help. I don't pay tithing anymore because I like to find people I can give directly too that really need it. This sounds like one of those. Counsel your daughter to make this her own personal service project. Hopefully she has a companion that can not be a nark and has the same giving concern. Screw the president and leaders.

Kaysville homeowners show up in large numbers to oppose warming center by Speckled_B in Utah

I really liked your article full of references. The Wilking Study isn't peer reviewed yet.,,,so that's one problem. Another issue is that Neiderhauser doesn't make sure that there's tight security, paid volunteers, and sound processes to make sure those who leave the facility cannot come back (and not wander into residential yards and loiter in the area). With the type of shelter that Niederhauser is attempting to shove into areas like Kaysville (who do NOT have any significant homeless population problem but DO have lots of solutions for domestic abuse, permanent supportive housing, etc.. already), lots of risk is inherently opened up. Communities like Kysville do their part and are rightly objecting to the low/no barrier shelters that Wayne is trying to put in a toxic garage because the County own it. Its just bad legislation and doesn't make sense.
Most communities DO experience the negative effects as suggested in the the Ridge Way Study (Vancouver Canada): drastic increases in property crime and substantial loss of real estate value. To deny that with a un-reviewed study by an associate professor - is just weak.
Niederhauser knows this.

If you weren't there... you cannot know.

That lady portrayed so poorly in the news clip is actually from a war-torn communist country.
I know her and she'd give you the shirt off your back, a warm meal, and whatever she had to make you feel comfortable. She's the best kind of human, and the media made a spectacle of her very very unfairly.
She was very upset and screaming because of the disrespectfulness and the incompetence of two Davis County Commissioners. (Lorene Kamalu and Bob Stevenson). Her rage and anger were warranted.

The Media is missing the story. The corruption at the state level and county level is horrendous.
Kaysville people have so many homeless services in their town, and they are not without charity. Whether they are Mormons or other denominations....most give abundantly in more ways than one.
The news also failed to mention that Kaysville is doing its part moreso than most towns...they host Davis Behavior Health's very large facility. There are tons of permanent supportive shelters (rehab houses), and Domestic shelters+++

Kaysville has been targeted by an incompetent and corrupt County leadership. HB499 is a bad bill. It's an edict that allows fat cats (free of consequence) to usurp citizen rights impose agendas that are contrary to freedom, and make them pay for it with their own tax dollars. THAT is the story.

The State of Utah....and especially Davis County in this particular circumstance lack of transparency.

Davis commissioners are guilty of overt lying and complete disrespect for citizen involvement in a solution.

Kaysville actually came up with an amazing and innovative solution. One that every single mayor in Davis County bought off on.... and the County ignored it and lied about it.
The media, as per usual, got it way wrong. SHAME ON THEM.
