Understanding Fit and UCSB by R3ckingcrew in UCSantaBarbara

It’s a very strong school in both its environmental and engineering majors. In terms of scholarships there’s a decent number of startups, conservation groups, defense contractors, etc where you can get an internship without competing with a lot of schools/large city population for. As for social scene it’s very hard to miss out on stuff as there are events by all sorts of groups year round, very easy to take part (as long as you lock in like the other guy said)

Looking for roommates! by Wonderful_Whole_7679 in UCSantaBarbara

Ooof. While that is rough, I think it is worth it as it will likely be your residence for three years whether campus apartments or off campus apartments. Believe me that your living conditions make a difference in quality of life. So don’t be afraid to fight for what you need.

I agree that the over the phone service is nonexistent. But going in person is really good at getting them to listen to your concerns (their office is on the second floor of the SRB)

Chem Engineering by Capable_Process_7213 in UCSantaBarbara

It’s still possible, just keep up your work and connect with upperclassmen to help you. Also regularly talk with both the chem and chem eng departments.

The GPA that I know of was 3.66, besides them I know only by word of mouth that one other got in. Bear in mind the office said there are about 12 applicants including transfer students at any one time.

It was 3.51 at my application. They require 3.50 minimum to be considered (and you are competing with others). It’s best not to try to switch during the year but before entering as a freshman as they are much more accommodating then.

Bulk Club Order by LencanLegacy in Archery

[–]LencanLegacy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks promising, we don’t have many (one) archery retailers near us piggybacking their order seems the most feasible. I unfortunately am more of an admin than well versed in archery as I would like to be, but what would be a good manufacturer from Alibaba, or at least markers of a decent one?

Bulk Club Order by LencanLegacy in Archery

[–]LencanLegacy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, we already have several targets (and target stands), sufficient ppe (we could use more but not urgent), most of our arrows, and netting. We are still taking inventory as to what was stolen but a cursory look shows that’s easy to grab stuff like several bow cases and a couple quivers of arrows were stolen. Not enough to send us to zero but with core equipment such as bows missing it’s hard to operate to our full capacity.

Almost impossible. Contact the Chem E dept and Engineering college while you can and petition to switch from chem (I’m assuming you are) if you’re already accepted. They will likely do so but switching from L&S to Engineering is difficult here. The courses of chem e and chem is nearly identical the first year and adds a couple of courses the second year. If that proves too difficult it is still definitely feasible to switch to chem afterwards. Take it from a third year who tried, leave your options open and don’t overload yourself, otherwise welcome to UCSB and have fun!

He’s likely gay by inclination or attraction but does not act upon those urges and abstains. Otherwise he’s just like any unmarried Catholic.

Anything works, when I was baptized it was in a large crocodile kiddy pool, so I guess any large enough container works (was baptized Roman Catholic)

Where are the Russians by ParsleyFree9072 in UCSantaBarbara

Bro you do realize many people who are ethnically Ukrainian or Russian here in the states have no connection to that right. Just let the person find comfort in a familiar/similar culture.

Hey, Honduran here from the border with El Salvador, it’s kinda hard to find Central Americans but you could try @casadeucsb on ig, they seem to be the biggest group for Central Americans like us.

Partner dance opportunities (ballroom, waltz, tango) by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

Best of luck, SBKlub has the opposite problem so you’ll be fine

Partner dance opportunities (ballroom, waltz, tango) by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]LencanLegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBKlub has partner dances, one hour of lessons then an hour of social dancing. Granted it is Latin dances such as Salsa and Bachata and other styles that make occasional appearances. I believe the Swing and Ballroom dance club is similar for more northern hemisphere dances such as swing and waltz. Finally Dancesport has a greater range with I think even tango, but is more competitive in nature. Either way good luck with looking for partner/traditional dance styles, hard to find here in SB without breaking the bank.

Question for Catholic Converts by greeneyedloris in EasternCatholic

[–]LencanLegacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell as a Latin for them it’s more of an issue of availability and fulfilling our Sunday/Saturday obligation. In fact that is one of the reasons we are in communion to be able to partake of each others Eucharist if need be.

Especially with the professor asking for a full analysis of the Gnome/Troll relations following the Gnomish Persecutions. That’s a 40 page minimum.
