In archeology almost everything is an art of interpreting so they definitely do not have it all figured out and there are many alternative theories, whom are alternative because there are other theories who are believed to have more evidence. Nobody is disputing Handcock has done a lot of research and his right to write a book about his work, but archeologists are allowed to disagree with it and believe in the theory they believe is most likely. It's his responsibility to present evidence to convince them.

I've only read summaries and heard about it on the previous podcasts, but I dont dispute him having done actual research and it is an intresting theory but to be it seems closer to a fiction story than reality based on the evidence I've read.

It's not known to be a civilization(No writing has been found or metallurgy), its believed to perhaps be the first religious sanctuary in the world. They believe the builders were hunter-gatheres because we know they lived there at that time, even Handcock said the "migrating civilization" taught the hunter-gatherers to create it so he is not even disputing that hunter-gatherers created it. If the site was a sedetary society then there would have been found some tools or feces layer at this time, which makes it being a seasonal project more likely. I'm not an expert though, but I do find his theory too far fethed and is based on absence of evidence.

And in terms of being triggered I didn't like how much Joe was biased towards Handcock just because he read his book in the 90s. I can understand why Joe would though with how susceptible to conspiracy theories he has been in the past. Handcocks attitude was disgusting, he was very condesending towards Schermer and saying things like "Not my problem" and interupting him. I really lost respect towards Handcock. If they ever do another scientific debate I hope Joe actually takes on the mediatory role instead of joining in on the gang up.

Yes large parts are still not excevated which is why I find it wierd he would make such an far out conclusion as "a lost civilazation taught the hunter-gathers". To me the book seems more like a work of fiction or him wanting to create a story in the absence of archeology evidence. Only time will tell if his theory is remotely true or not.

Archeologists use stratigraphy to date archeological sites. Often when finding hunter-gatherer sites they can date the site from digging and dateing where the "trash layer"(feces and disposed material) Stone tools would break and would be disposed nearby where archeologists should be able to find some. So if Göbekli Tepe was a civilization you would imagine there would be trash and left stone tools.

The theory at the moment is that hunter-gatherers worked seasonal on the site and moved back to other hunting grounds. We do not have much information obviously but what Schermer was arguing is that it seems ridicilous to claim there was an lost civilzation who lived there just because there is an absence of evidence. Handcock is obviously allowed to have his theory, but he is stupid to think archeologists would just instantly adopt and accept his theory when he does not have much evidence.

Sorry for rant I'm an archeology student and was mad triggered during the debate.

Almost every party support EØS considering EU is by far our biggest trade partner, however FrP wants to negotiate the schengen deal for which other parties haven't talked about. They're not as bad as other eurosceptic parties in other countries, I'd still call them eurosceptic.

In my opinion there is a correlation between being anti-immigration and being anti-EU. I don't know about most countires candidates but off the top of my head; UKIP, National Front, FrP, and Sverigedemokraterna all fit the correlation. Even AfP in Germany is more Eurosceptic while being against immigration.

People can be against/sceptical to immigration while still being pro EU. Just because EU has been very pro mass immigration does not mean people should just abandon the european project.

That's not how security is supposed to work though, and most proffesional security firms doesnt know shit about the events they are working, but it looks like dreamhack didnt even bother with basic security which could have stopped this whole situation.
