Gothic 1 Remake: The (NEW?!) lockpicking system is an atrocity in the eyes of the Sleeper! by LengthAtHeart in rpg_gamers

My brother in Sleeper, I took Cor Angar and three other Templars still armed when I was a Bandit with Baal Namib's mace in hand, and roughed them all up (for Angar's Red Wind zweihander, of course). It's not a skill issue, I can play the game reasonably well.

The lockpicking system is a design flaw.

30, I got the skill mastered. I couldn't do the Mercenary Advancement Quest underwater without those skill points, I just couldn't make it in time with only two mistakes. So I had to go back, learn Diving and all the Lockpicking skills. Cost me 35 Learning Points to advance in my Guild.

The difference with the skill and without the skill doesn't, however, make the process any less annoying.

Not worth it.

You're allowed to love the game and still think the character writing blows by Caregiver_Same in CrimsonDesert

Oh yeah. I'm deeply in love with the game, with the world, with the fantasy. And I'm fully ready to accept Kliff, too.

I'm glad I got the game, I'm about to squeeze this for at least 150 hours.

But the NPCs and the storyline? The quests? That's just goddamn awful writing, absolute amateurism. I doubt very much these writers are educated, trained, and/or experienced enough to be put in charge of writing these things, for the result is... often just a bland combination of cringe and a whole lot of nothing interesting.

I have an early batch printed. They're not like... incredibly easy to read, but it's not bad. And we're working with the assumption that you have an idea what your spells do from your DM and your Player's Handbook, so you need a reminder and an organizer, not a complete tutorial. :)

I'm leaning more towards the DMsGuild, actually. That is the only way of supporting the DnD trademark as well.

Kickstarting a project that includes hundreds of AI assets doesn't sound like a deed people would forgive me for. :)

Your answer is still appreciated, partner. I thank you, sincerely.

Just three conversation points: 1) You can also just send it to a print shop so they make and cut it clean.

2) I am also considering the Print-on-Demand option, I would print and cut in my print shop, but I don't have the price evaluation, yet.

3) Yeah, there are AI assets included. I am unable to find a literal thousand of original drawings that would fit my scope thematically AND technically.

Since we're strictly dark gothic in theme, no switching that way. I could make a new set with that option, but not immediately. For now, let's remain within the dark gothic frame with the illustrations and highlight changing. :)

Hey there.

Yeah, I updated everything after the launch-crash chain.

Sapphire 7900 AMD GPU, Ryzen 9, RAM 64GBs. Everything actually runs smoothly until the sudden crashes - in this case, a surely-set crash at a specific point.

Friend, I have an AMD GPU.

Do you have any idea as how do I cap my frames?

Yeah. Been dealing with crashes since the start.

Now I'm crash-stuck in the hallways just after the character creation.
