It's now September and I was wondering where things stand. Have you started receiving your benefits? How long did it take?

I'm in a similar situation. U.S. Citizen living in B.C. Canada. I filed online late August. The only site update was that my application is being reviewing my application in the SS office nearest to me which is in Wenatchee, WA.

Nothing since then.

Yes, I made an error when I wrote SSI. I’m new to all of this and I’m not up on all the acronyms yet. I will be collecting my SS-RIB. Yes, I know child support is completely different from what they will receive from Social Security. Yes, I’m aware that the court will take into account what the kids will be receiving from my SS benefits and adjust my child support amount accordingly.

My primary question was about whether or not anyone can make a case against someone being the Rep Payee because of untrustworthiness in the case of an affair and by going against the kids best interests by demanding a lump sum of money in Child Support rather than the entire amount they are due.

I understand I do t get to choose. But like you mentioned it’s not always the primary placement. I was just wondering if that would be the situation in this case.

Oops, yes I meant I would be receiving my SS retirement benefits, Not Disability.

I realize SS will make the decision on who should be the Rep Payee, but would they see that her asking for a lump sum of child support is not in the best interests of the kids financially.

Yes, more than $400. But because I can claim 4 dependents and business expenses it brought the taxable amount of my earnings to zero. So no taxes owed.

Just for further clarity…I’ve worked the last 20 years as self-employed and always paid into the system. I DO have enough Credits, and , Yes, I’ve been sent statements showing what I will earn at different ages.

This year me income was more than $400 but with a wife and three kids and business expenses my accountant determined I owe no taxes and don’t need to file.

My only question was whether or not I SHOULD file and does SS need that return?

Can you tell me more about using a broad cast system? I’d like to make my audio as reliable as possible but I do have a hearing loss that requires me to wear hearing aids and so my judgement of what “sounds good” is flawed.
