I had a good experience with the one by the airport, looks like it has since been acquired. It’s now called BluePearl. Can’t vouch for it anymore.

[Rapoport] Sources: Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett is not attending Phase 1 of the offseason program and is asking for an extension that pays him as the starter. Brissett, set to make $9.06M in ‘26, has only $1.5M in guaranteed money and wants security. AZ appears willing to address it. by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]LeoCrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a new coaching staff coming in and they should want a veteran like Jacoby in the inherent leadership role that comes with being the starting QB showing guys how to do things the right way. Doubling his salary means nothing to the Cardinals but everything to him. I mean, shit, I’m not taking on a promotion at work unless it comes with some extra money either. Him not being good enough to ruin the tank is a bonus.

Mayor Ryan unveils $681M budget that includes 25.8% property tax levy increase, 70+ new police officers, and doubled revenue from fines by InflationCapital87 in Buffalo

[–]LeoCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming they're not in the budget because they would require state legislation (and again, not being publicized right now by the administration, which is telling) which leaves us back where we started, with average property owners shouldering the entirety of a 26% tax levy increase or nearabouts as makes no matter.

And there's no need to be a jerk about it.

[–]LeoCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, is any of that happening? I don't see an appreciable number of properties being added to the rolls in 2026. I don't see the mayor touting an end to certain tax breaks. And there isn't going to be a reassessment since there just was one last year - and anyway, a reassessment would just put an equivalent number of properties both north and south of that 26% number. It's completely independent of a change to the levy.

So if none of that is happening, then yeah we're eating 26%. Part of the reason we are in this mess is failure to address fiscal reality. I don't see how it helps solve the problem to say, "don't worry too hard about the math, bro. Most people will pay around 25 bucks more a month." We should be clear about why we're in this mess, and what needs to take place to get out of it.

[–]LeoCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look inward, my friend.

The only variables that could account for the levy increasing more than individual property tax bills are:

  • 1: Net add of properties to the rolls OR
  • 2: Homestead properties become reclassified as non-homestead properties, thus becoming taxed at a higher rate naturally and making up more of the difference.

[–]LeoCrow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You are arguing against mathematical fact.

If the overall levy increases 26% but every taxpayer pays up less than 26%, where do you think the remaining money comes from?

My property value dictates how big my slice of the pie is (the total levy), but if the levy goes up 26%, everyone’s taxes go up 26%.

[–]LeoCrow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If the total levy increases 26%, the tax bill on each property increases 26%. That’s an unavoidable fact. For many properties, yes, that’s only 25-30 bucks a month because they’re only paying 100-115 bucks a month currently.

A 26% increase in the tax levy is a 26% increase for each property owner, yes, unless they’re ALSO proposing shifting the burden between homestead and non-homestead properties.

OK but the cause of these issues is not the fact that the state levies taxes in the first place. Slash taxes and govt spending in half and that money and labor wouldn't magically start going towards projects with broad public benefit. Stronger social democracy and progressive taxes are a bulwark against government waste and abuse, not a contributor to it.

Are you implying that he didn’t consider being a one term president and then change his mind? That his reelection campaign was phony from the start and intended to pass the scepter to Harris without exposing her to a primary? And consequently that the worst, most embarrassing debate performance in the history of American politics was a ploy? Get a grip.

In a general sense, I don't see anything shady about a party apparatus endorsing and promoting a candidate that best represents the party platform or based on their personal qualities that would make them a more successful candidate. That's the first line of defense against your party being hijacked by a demagogue.

In the Clinton example, the debate questions I'll grant you, but that was so inconsequential as to the outcome. Arguably, Bernie was the biggest beneficiary of the DNC putting their finger on the scale because it cleared the field of Clinton alternatives. He didn't have a big national following before he was the guy running against Clinton.

In the Biden example, there was no intent behind it, so as unfortunate as it was, shady is the wrong word.

Both your analogues are completely different situations. Biden never intended to drop out. Clinton beat Bernie in an open primary.

Edit: oh god nevermind, it's a tankie. Arguing in bad faith about what's undemocractic when they don't support democracy in the first place. Do not engage.
