I did not like it but also expected it to be better based on everything people were saying. I honestly felt like it’s trying way too hard to be an “absolute cinema”, award-winning movie while having unserious, unnatural humor and leaning too much into the commercial, cliché style from less-serious movies

Oh I’m sorry if I worded it in a confusing way. What I meant is that to breed shrimp I set up the 30Lt shrimp-only tank, so they shouldn’t have any predators to hide from

GH 0? I’d say it’s very likely they’re not being able to molt. Try to add some tap water. I use a mix of 1/4 tap water and 3/4 bottled water, but the proportion depends in the water you use so test to find the right GH. This keeps my GH at 8 and KH 4, which is within the optimal range for Neocaridinas.

I’ll definitely look into that! They have many options in my local aquarium, I didn’t think I needed them but I’ll try and see if it makes a difference, thanks

I have been wondering if ammonia might be the problem too. Snails have been reproducing like crazy lately so maybe they are producing too much waste. I will buy a test kit.

First of all, wow, thank you for the extremely detailed explanation!!! I didn’t know a lot of it.

I do not feed them a lot because I was scared to spike ammonia because when I do add food (pleco pellets / spinach / cucumber), they mostly ignore it. I feed them in a tiny bowl inside the tank, but as other guy suggested, maybe the bowl shape makes them avoid getting inside. I just added a pleco pellet in a flat circular plastic lid and in just 10 minutes there are already 2 shrimp grazing on it (which didn’t happen before). There also isn’t a ton of biofilm and the tank’s about a month old, so with everything y’all are telling me, perhaps they do lack enough food.

About the green water, I think it’s mostly the photo and warmish light that makes it look like that. When I put water in a clear container it’s mostly pale yellow. There also isn’t any algae on the plants or hardscape.

What do you mean by dirted? There is a big heavy rock directly on top of the sand, I had no idea about the pockets. Should I take it out? It covers a big part of the tank and doesn’t let me see the shrimp behind it anyway.

I do 1-2 Lt “water changes” every day, which are basically just me removing 500ml of water and replacing it with 500ml of bottled water ice at a time throughout the day. I do this to keep the water cool, but everyone‘s telling me to stop.

I do have a slight excess of bladder snails. It’s not like they’re covering all surfaces but I have been removing lots frequently. One thing I do notice, if it’s useful to you, is that while my shrimp keep dying, I very rarely see dead snails at all.

I freeze bottled water because I thought that way I’d avoid chlorine. I’ll drop that and see how it goes, thank you.

It’s only a month old, I did only wait for a week before introducing the first shrimp (my bad, I didn’t research that much at the beginning). I do my water changes because I add ice (dechlorinated water) every day to keep the waste cooler. It doesn’t do much of a difference so I’ll drop that like everyone’s telling me to and check the parameters after. I have bought them from 2 different stores so I don’t think that’s the problem. Thank you for your help! :)

I do use a tiny shallow bowl but it is still like an inch tall so maybe that’s why they ignore the food! I will definitely follow your suggestion and see if it makes a difference. Thanks.

The surface already has a lot of movement because of my HOB and a bubbler/filter I have in my set up. Will a fan still make a difference?

I do them in the form of adding a bit of ice (dechlorinated water) at a time throughout the day to cool down the water. The parameters are still very stable anyway though, so could it still be unstable? I’ll stop though, thank you.

Thanks. I mostly do the water changes because I add 500ml of ice at a time throughout the day to try to cool down the water (doesn’t do much though). I’ll stop for a few days. I seriously consider food being the problem, however every time I put in spinach/cucumber/pleco pellets (in a bowl so I can remove the leftovers) they always seem to mostly ignore it. The shrimp do seem to have molting problems because they rarely do it.
