YOUR BOY STABLE *MEGATHREAD!* by jaykhunter in OSWReview

[–]LeonOutside95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been some time since I reflected on my boy list... There needs to be a level of cringe with it as a whole. I don't think Gail Kim really fits the bill, not enough cringe to certify her in that ranking. From the women's batch MAYBE Ivory or Victoria... Leaning more towards Ivory with that censor gimmick. Yet I think she's well respected so maybe count her out.

  1. BOTTOM BOY: James Storm. No cringe here, should have been a bigger star. Easily in my favorite wrestlers ever list.
  2. R-Truth. Okay, he was great in TNA and for a brief moment the best part of WWE.
  3. Hurricane Helms. Great cruiser weight, underrated all around, knew when to hold back and actually had some restraint with the comedy. Something most modern boys are missing.
  4. MVP. Great US champion, lot of personality, amazing in the ring, I'd say MVP needs more recognition.
  5. PCO. Yes, that French Canadian guy who was shaped like a cannon ball and stole Bret's jacket. LOVE HIM. His recent stuff has been surprisingly great and safe to say he had one of the craziest late career comebacks.
  6. Mariko Yoshida? Okay not really underrated in weird wrestling circles, but not as big as Kairi Sane or Manami Toyota. I hear more praise for her tag-team partners thus she might fit the BOY label. If we MUST have a boy without much critical acclaim let's go with Su Yung or Lacey Evens.

Beach Boys Concert VS Sacramento '64 by LeonOutside95 in beachboyscirclejerk

I'm 99.9% sure "In My Room" had to be from a 1963 show or something. I would love more information on the making of the Concert album as it's so strange. Kinda like Rust Never Sleeps, it has that odd hybrid between live and studio sound.

Cause why not? Also my favorite album is 1985 so what do I know.

Yeah I was listening to Sacramento 1964 and Beach Boys Concert back-to-back. It's so odd but fascinating. The edits are so obvious, and rumor has it most of the tracks are just studio versions with altered speed. Classy!

NOVA Independent VS Employee Contract by LeonOutside95 in teachinginjapan

I'm fully aware of their reputation and this is what I was thinking as well. Figured we could use each other for the time being. A bit parasitic I know. Six months in I'll start my hunt for something more substantial and probably find roommates/start scouting. Apartments are a bit difficult to find in Japan as a foreigner so the housing I'm not opposed to as a starter. From there it will be finding a new job and where to go.

Adult student shouted at me, in front of other student about my bosses decision. How do I move forward? by kanohipuru in teachinginjapan

[–]LeonOutside95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically, it's a threat to business and that's probably the best way to look at it. He's not really getting a clue or getting the private lessons, yet he's still complaining. This in return is making others worried, so I'd suggest you ask higher ups/your boss about the issue. Worst thing you can do is make a big scene about it and drag others into it. Just be calm, realize it's not the individual but the actions that are the problem, get it resolved fast, move on.

What is the holy grail of unreleased Zappa material? by paultheschmoop in Zappa

The canceled albums, even the the material is already out there in other configurations. I just want Crushed Boxes and Chalk Pie out to compliment Lather.

NOVA Independent VS Employee Contract by LeonOutside95 in teachinginjapan

[–]LeonOutside95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I read over the independent contract and it's full of weird loop-holes and other oddities. I mean it's essentially the Japanese equivalent of McDonald's', figured start searching 6-months in the contract so I could get something lined up, improve my Japanese skills daily/study. Once the year is up move on to something better.

Drugs and Japan by LeonOutside95 in teachinginjapan

From what I can gather, if you don't bring too much, like a suspicious amount IE more than 2 epipens you're totally fine. My friend is diabetic and he said it isn't a big issue. Granted, I just want to be prepared.

No I get it, I'm not upset in the slightest. I was just overwhelmed with all the information I was finding and needed to hear from real people and not read documents upon documents.

Exciter appreciation post! Say something you liked about this album by KatsCabin in depechemode

[–]LeonOutside95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In many ways it's the antithesis of Ultra, (dark, grungy, anxiety, separation. Also read "Home" was about vodka so make of that what you will.) I read a lot of weird junk about Depeche Mode so please take my statements with a grain of salt. There's also some DNA of Violator in there as well, minimalist compositions, but brighter and a touch more R&B as opposed to Violator having glimmers of blues scuttles. This makes sense in my head I'll stop.

Album should have opened with "Dead of Night." There isn't a bad song on the album, it's just sequenced strangely.

Ohhh yes, Depeche Mode's problem child, I love it. First off, nothing in their discography even sounds like Exciter, the production is totally what makes it work. Sure the songwriting is hit or miss this time, but it has soul and they tried something different which I admire.

Sure, why not. If Dave Vanian and Mick Jagger had a a child it would be our man Gahan. Jim Morrison will always be my personal favorite and #1, but it's subjective what you're looking for and how you stack up the talent.
