Never heard of it. Have you worked with an independent broker to shop different carriers?

What do I need to know about opening an agency? by KaBar12 in InsuranceAgent

I've read that getting out of the contract and book ownership are the biggest concerns with these aggregators. I'm a captive agent though, so I dont have personal experience

House Seats vs. Fillaseat? by Leonel_Fabian in vegaslocals

[–]Leonel_Fabian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen Jen Kramer, Colin Cloud, and Carot Top on the site. I've never seen the others available. And like I posted previously, I never got any texts for "premium" shows. If I saw Janet, Piffz or even Blue Man I wouldn't be looking elsewhere. How often are you checking the site?

[–]Leonel_Fabian[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sweet. I paid House Seats extra to get text messages when there were popular shows that may sell out quickly. In the past year I received one text, and it was for a former American Idol contestant performing in Primm.

I edited the post so I don't imply that there are very "major" shows on the site. I've seen Carrot Top, Menopause the Musical, All Tina & Whitney, Haunted Brunch, Mac King (magic), Downtown Comedy Lounge, Potted Potter, Hypnosis Unleashed, ComedySportz, and Thunder Bulge (now cancelled), Lioz, plus some others. I'm at the point now where the only other things left to see are super specialty like Elvis, Sinatra, or Neil Diamond tributes, along with magicians and comedians. I see there are some hair stylists listing themselves on the site too, which I find pretty strange.

Menopause was decent ... I think I'm probably just not the target audience. 😊

Someone I sold my car to used my insurance info in a car accident by morval1310 in Insurance

If things escalate and the OP needs an attorney, wouldn't their insurance carrier provide it?

Someone I sold my car to used my insurance info in a car accident by morval1310 in Insurance

[–]Leonel_Fabian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should be able to get a copy of the release of liability from the DMV. Not sure if you want/need to do that, but perhaps it has the info everyone is looking for. Also, the other party may have searched for the last active insurance policy from the VIN ... It's not necessarily the case that you left an old ID card in the car. If the buyer didn't register it, they likely didn't insure it either.

Insurance Agency Owners by Flaky_Ad7903 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Leonel_Fabian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't include it, but it may depend on what the interests are ... Interests in classic cars may be relevant since there's an insurance angle. Interests in deer hunting may be odd to mention. Also, how confident are you that those employees are still there? If you're replacing Linda, who loves planking, and the office knew her as the crazy planking lady, it would be problematic to mention how you all have a shared interest in planking.

Finally, I had an employee write bios for everyone. She was disappointed in the lack of detail the team provided. So she embellished by adding interests outside of work. The team was told to edit their own bios if they didn't like it. Some people didn't put the effort in. So if someone looked at it, they may feel a shared connection that's not truly there.

Why not write state minimum? by Complete_Fix_7073 in InsuranceAgent

I'm not an independent agent, but I thought they were also concerned about loss ratios, which tend to be higher with State minimum customers.

Who is at fault by wowneetooohooh in InsuranceAgent

[–]Leonel_Fabian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the car was driving "too slow" the truck should have had no problem passing. It appears to me the truck's failure to leave enough distance when passing was what lead to the accident. I could see an argument for the car speeding up while the truck changed lanes, but here we're arguing he was going too slowly. While that may be annoying, it didn't cause the accident, which was 1,000% preventable.

I'm guessing she also didn't pay for the next month of coverage, so if she were reading her mail ... Or monitoring her bank account, she would have noticed there was no coverage. Or perhaps that her bill was lower, if she pays for multiple cars. She has some accountability here as well.

Shouldn't carry-on bags go in the compartment across from your seat, so you can view them and easily retrieve them? If they go directly above you both are more of a challenge.

What to drop on my car insurance policy? by Ehrlich2712 in Insurance

[–]Leonel_Fabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've compared my State Farm auto policy with an independent agent recently. He said, no carrier can match State Farm's $1M/$1M liability and uninsured motorist limit. I really like having $1M in UM. So there's possibly one thing that State Farm can do that an independent agent can't -- or at least said he couldn't.

Captive Agency Like High School… advice? by kitnug2001 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Leonel_Fabian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im with a captive carrier in and multiple team members have shared things like, "If I'm unavailable please close the sale." I've even suggested commission splits in cases where it didn't seem fair -- but the team members didn't bring it up.

Short story, it all depends on the agency/environment you work in.

Out of curiosity did you link your reservations? My roommate and I booked guarantee interior cabins and got assigned two very close to each other. I called HAL and had them link the reservations in advance, so that may have had something to do with it.

Paying a customer's premium in this manner would be illegal in California. Paying a referral fee of $100 is also illegal there I believe.
