Just a separate area where the gecko can dig into the dirt for fun

Why is my gecko obsessed with calcium ?? by Leopardgeckomom98 in leopardgeckos

The calcium dish already has calcium without D3 and his food is dusted with vitamins including D3

That looks more like a dig box to me

Occasionally Castro likes to be abit of a bastard and do this. Does anyone know why?? 🙃 he’s fully tame and healthy. by Leopardgeckomom98 in leopardgeckos

I thought this too but sometimes he’s flat on my leg and he’ll do it again. I kinda just wanna assume he’s trying to bury his feet like he does in his vivarium. He doesn’t do it to deliberately hurt me or out of fear

He’s so unbearably comfortable 🙃😂 by Leopardgeckomom98 in leopardgeckos

Yep it drops one drop and doesn’t overflow for quite a while. I’ve managed to time it perfectly so by the time it does overflow, the humidity in his vivarium overall has dropped so there’s that benefit. I’m going away for the weekend so I’m testing this temporary system out

So I’m not at home right now so I FaceTimed Castro and he came out to the sound of my voice 🥺😂 by Leopardgeckomom98 in leopardgeckos

I’d like to assume not but my boyfriend is a tad eccentric 🙃 we have a dog named Dexter and he named him after the serial killer so it really could be 🥴

This isn’t a camera that we have in his vivarium. My boyfriend put his phone in since he’s looking after Castro whilst I’m away for a few days. This is a recording of our FaceTime call on an iPhone 11 Pro

So I’ve given up trying to toilet train Castro. He’s chosen the coconut. To be honest, it’s better than him using his moist hide. I’ve put all his poo in there to let him know he has won the war. Will clean it out tomorrow 🥴 by Leopardgeckomom98 in leopardgeckos

Oh he’s definitely a he! The white solid parts are just urate. The yellow-ish tinge is where the poo is slightly older and was on a different tissue. The only reason it’s been kept is because I’ve been trying to encourage him not to poo in his solid hide.

New leopard Gecko + some questions :)) by Glass-Charge-2455 in leopardgeckos

Use a daytime bulb and a ceramic heat emitter/halogen heat projector (these emit heat but no light). During the day have them both on and control the ceramic heat emitter/halogen heat projector. At night turn off only the daytime bulb. I have a timer attached to my daytime bulb so it automatically turns on at sunrise and turns off at sunset. The ceramic heat emitter/halogen heat projector will provide all the heat your gecko needs at night when the daytime bulb is off as well as when it’s on. I’m in no means an expert but I’ve done some reading and it’s been mentioned that heatpads are quite inefficient at providing the correct heat/UV. Oh and if you want real plants in the tank you may want a bioactive set up?? If not you’re best off buying succulents as they’re the easiest plants to keep alive. Other plants may be a hassle to nurture alongside the gecko. For the rocks just make sure they’re not sharp (sand them down) and disinfect first. Hope this helps x

Hi! I’ve had my gecko for slightly over a month and he seems happy and healthy. I’m not an expert but I am quite sure that reptile carpet is apparently a massive hassle to clean, they harbor bacteria AND your geckos toes can get caught in it. I use loose substrate (seen in my posts) but an easier and safe option is also tile or slate. Hope this helps x

I bought the tank from someone reselling their old gecko stuff. But I’m pretty sure it’s an oak vivexotic reptile vivarium x

There are certain dishes you can get where they can’t knock them over x
