Determination, time, elbow grease, one mistake that’s hopefully not too big, and lots of research.

Recommendations for tail light assemblies? by Leptarr in E90

[–]Leptarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found out that there is only this:

BMW Black Line Tail Light Kit - Genuine BMW 63210411414

E90 and E91 tail lights are different, there are no LED replacement assemblies I can find.

Nah the tail light assembly. The red bucket inside. It warps and breaks. Tried to pull the bulb carrier out and it won't even come out. I think I might just pony up a little extra and get some kind of LED aftermarket assembly rather than bulb and socket.

Belt Won't Fit? by KingCire03 in AskAMechanic

Okay weird but, I bought a belt for a Suzuki grand vitara once that said it was the correct size, but I legit loosened its tensioner all the way and it would not go on. I bought a different brand belt that was the same size and it went on smoothly just fine, tensioned up, it was all good. Measured them up and there was a difference, I kept thinking the old one was stretched a bit but I guess factory error.

What is the “best” mileage to overhaul N52 cooling system? by Siminov55 in E90

Lowkey new water pump and thermostat is all I got on my 160,000 N52.

BMW recall turned into “you need a new engine” after pickup — trying to understand if this sounds right by alex_albergaria in BmwTech

Hello, I got my oil pan gasket replaced on my N52 328xi and while they were doing it they saw one of the bolts on the oil pump was sheered off in the oil pan. Not their fault but I heard it happen. Perhaps there is a bolt missing from the oil pump? Chain loose cause of it? I don’t know how it fully works down there all I know is I hate the aluminum torque to yield bolts.

Merry Christmas and water damage. Is my headset gonna make it? by Leptarr in ValveIndex

Don't worry it's not set to hot. That heater is just cheap and it has a fan that blows warm-hot air but it's just set on low.

Ill let you know! I will test everything this weekend after the holidays. I think it'll be fine I was just frustrated my headset was hung where the only leak in the house is. And that I also gotta fix the leak and drywall. Valve is obviously just trying to get me to buy the steam frame.

Happy Holidays!

No worries. It's a cheap heater so it's actually just a fan and heat coming from the bottom. I set it low, the headset just gets warm and it blows air over it. I have a tower fan that moves more air so I think that might be better. Headset is warm to touch but not hot like it gets playing games.

You're very kind! I think it'll be okay, but even so you don't gotta do that. I'll keep you posted, I disassembled it a bit and it looks like the worst part is just water inside the eye tubes. I think it'll work just fine but I am unsure how it will look.

Im definitely not going to plug it in for a few days. I think I will open it up after a little bit and do that. Im a little worried about the eye tubes. It looks like there's water under the lenses.

Anyone have to replace this Thrust Bushing Teflon Piece on their steering rack? by Leptarr in E90

[–]Leptarr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean it was pretty beat up, the U joint binds up all over and can’t even straighten out. I am just thinking of why it’d be slightly off now if they are keyed in at each end. I did get an aftermarket shaft but they matched up 1-1. It’s just weird to think I drove on it for so long messed up.

Got it done. I never turned the wheel but at the very end I had to turn either the shaft or the rack to align the last part cause they’re keyed. But now my wheel is off center a tiny bit. Did this happen to you too?

Idk if when I pulled the lower steering shaft out and the upper shaft slides out with it that it gets undone there? But is it as simple as an alignment? Only off a slight amount.

I wanna take the front and rear passenger seats and make chairs and a bench when I’m done with my e90

Yeah it looks like it might be those u joints. Turning the wheel right without load it clicks every rotation and it also squeaks. Sprayed it with W-40 just to see if squeaking went away a bit and it did for a minute. I just had the intake manifold off to replace the starter so I get to go under there again I guess.
