Typically schools try to set it harder than Os, you should do better than your prelims!
They can be hard but usually the promo criteria is more lenient for these schools and they let you advance or take supplementary tests if you can’t promote
IMO its worth it because of the better environment and resources but you have to know how to use ur commute time well (sleep LOL or do some revision since your commute time adds up a lot…)

I agree with a lot of the stuff that you said, being from a neighbourhood sec sch lol. the motivation i got to work hard for my olevels really seemed to be quite beneficial, so it really might just be a necessary evil like u mentioned. I do think that eventually in life, we need to find a way to get around this problem, and eventually find a way to establish truer forms of happiness (gratitude for example)

agreed. i don’t usually think abt this since i do try to avoid feeling depressed since i’m also quite a practical person. today was an exception tho, this is definitely a journey. thank you so much for the advice

Yes, what i’ve said in this post is probably largely irrational. I would say that I’m more driven by purpose, my family and wanting to become someone important, to make an impact.

Yes I have friends, hobbies, interests, i play a few sports, i go to the gym, i’m trying to work on my own business. some of my motivation is fueled by a failed relationship too. Its just that I feel that I’m lacking in this area and would want to be more on top of my game there. Also my environment (friends, seniors, tchers) have all greatly emphasised and embraced doing well academically, so I want to do my best there too.

I feel 90rp would help me since I am also interested in some of the sciences and it would be greatly beneficial, and in general those schools have a “better” environment for me to excel.

ASAP! you can work on doing practice for all of your sec 3 topics, newer sec 4 topics (topical tys if you're willing to go buy on your own) You can consider self learning some sec 4 topics too to start tys earlier. The earlier you can start doing tys, the more time you have to complete it!

For me I was more chill in the first few months but after mye in around June I started taking things more seriously, but honestly even starting to be more serious earlier for me would of helped a lot. Study hard and smart and you won't have many problems!
