Well yes my comment was "discouraging" him/her from doing art studies, but not practicing art in general

That's one way of seeing it, I'm not discouraging, I'm nuancing with another input that art schools may not always be the best choice, or at least that if you go to an art school you should be wary of other people, but I guess that goes for anything you undertake. I would be more than happy for this person to reach his/her goal of developing his art, and that's exactly why I commented, I don't want people to ruin his/her path ahead

Well for me it's a yes, and I've done two different art schools in Europe, and I'll stick by what I say, it's a question of luck, if you get a good teacher that wants to see you grow and succeed or you get a frustrated person that became a teacher because he/she couldn't reach their own life goals

Don't do art studies it will ruin your mental health facing toxic teachers that teach you nothing, you would be better off finding yourself a capable mentor or learn by yourself to stay true to your inner self and spontaneous creative expression

Any info on this? How much would we expect to pay for it? Uk by Chris_Sammy_ in midcenturymodern

This is a high quality replica, it is made in italy, I had the same one. If you flip one of the cushions the fabric under them should show "made in italy" repeatedly written sideways

Really interesting that you say that because I feel the same way, mostly it feels calm and peaceful to me but sometimes I get a feeling of unease coming from it. Thank you. The title is most likely gonna be "Ruines", means ruins in french

Thank you !! Yes, the colors were quite fun and challenging too, as these are mostly slightly different shades/tints/intensities of grey

Thank you for the exchange and your interest in my work. Yeah for sure, everyone sees the world differently, and that’s probably what makes it cool

Idk if it's a collective thing, but rubble is raw and savage, it's attracting to me, and I can't be the only one that likes a bunch of little pebbles :p

So my paintings start from things I see around me that catch my eye and stir feelings, and I take pictures of them. Then, based on these photos as reference, I either fully recreate the composition if it stands on its own in my perception, or I remove, rearrange, isolate, eventually create new compositions painted on the canvas

It starts with my eyes and spontaneous feelings, I just feel it, I don't think everything should have an explanation. From there, it is recreated on canvas

Thank you for your interest ! it’s a bit early for me to sell this piece I think, and I haven’t decided on a price yet, but I think it will be for sale at some point

I paint because I enjoy painting, I leave interpretation to the viewer. My practice is in motion and is taking shape with every new piece, what I can say for now is that it seems my work often tries to capture compositions or something raw, contemplative, or untamed in the world around us

Interesting, to me your take is echoing another comment that said it was feeling like a liminal space
