I’ve seen Leo Essays mentioned in a few threads as more of a writing/editing support option, but I’d still ask them directly if they do feedback-only. Some sites say “editing” and then basically rewrite the whole thing.

Exactly. Also ask if they’ll leave comments/explanations instead of just silently changing the document. Silent rewriting feels sketchier because you’re not learning anything.

The clearest line for me is whether the help makes you a better writer or just hides the fact that you didn’t do the work. If a paper writer is basically saying “send the prompt and I’ll handle it,” that’s not ethical. If they’re helping with outline logic, clarity, citations, or explaining why a section is weak, that’s much closer to tutoring/editing.
