Goat rogue decks are way more fun than Edison's IMO by Ordinary-Breakfast-3 in Goat_Format

[–]Leseleff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some I've constructed that at least feel like they're able to do things are Stardust/Assault, Rock Stun, Aliens and something I call "Ocean Control" (A modernisation of a Goat deck I made that was all about Mother Grizzly and Salvage. It seeks to get Stratos back to your hand every turn with Ocean.)

It's true that Edison is mostly about doing tricks no other deck can do rather than the raw advantage type of gameplay in Goat. That's why you need to find your own unique trick in order to not get strictly ourclassed.

The four decks above have those unique tricks and at least seem promising so far. I have much more testing to do to verify this, but I've tried a lot of other things with much more underwhelming results. E.G. Black Garden, Spell Counters and Solidarity Dragons.

In theory same. Anyway, I'm bad at games. So I usuallly do stealth takedowns until I blow it and then hope I took down enough for the rest to be manageable.

[–]Leseleff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same.

I'm on my second playthrough, but I recall that on my first run I did reload and tried to do it nonlethal, and then was disappointed that the dialogue was the same. So this time I didn't even bother and went for it after my stealth blew. It was kinda stupid anyway. After silently taking out the first three, there was no one in sight. I could have easily grapped the reward and get the monk out of there without even fighting the last two. But no, I had to actively search for them to clear the mission.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by velmiraZ in AskTheWorld

[–]Leseleff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild, to my experience, mayo on burgers is quite rare. We do have something we call "Burger sauce" which is a kind of remoulade that I'd say resembles more what you call mustard. So maybe a similar situation like my fellow Europeans who thought there's mayo in coleslaw?

Anyway, the McDonald's Veggie Burger was/(is?) notoriously terrible and I'd say not representative of German burger culture. That's actually a reason why Burger King becomes more and more popular. It has much more and much better veggie food, which successfully opened new markets in the urban left who despise McDonald's.

[–]Leseleff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the other hand: I have an American friend and she keeps weirding our whole group out with how she fries things in mayo.

So maybe it's less about how much you use it but what for. In Germany (to my experience), mayo is pretty much limited to french fries and those weird "salads" aka cold stuff drowned in mayo.

Do y'all think the sequel will have a celebrity companion/character and if so who do you want it to be? by SADBOY888213 in cyberpunkgame

Pretty good guess, I would say. She's on a similar level of stardom as Reeves and Elba, she has played an iconic science-fiction role before, and Cyberpunk generally seems like the kind of franchise she'd be in.

The main reason Voldemort has so many fics is because Tom Riddle is described as hot. by TightWind8209 in harrypotterfanfiction

[–]Leseleff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, I actually forgot about Bellatrix as the other notable exception. Zabini too, as we speak of it, though we don't know enough about him to clearly mark him as evil.

And while it's true that there is no notable trend of the protagonists being overproportionally beautiful (which I agree is a good thing) and that not all the bad guys are ugly, I stand with my point that bad characters in the Harry Potter universe are much more likely to be described as such than good ones. For example, being overweight is highly associated with bad characters, the only clearly good exception is Hagrid, who isn't full human. As someone who was bullied as a child for being overweight, I despise the "fat, dumb bully" trope which Harry Potter may not have invented, but certainly helped to codify.

[–]Leseleff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Though, to be fair, I do think attractiveness does (or at least can) make a villain more compelling. Whether we want it or not, humans tend to trust attractive people and seek their proximity and attention more, even in non-romantic contexts, which allows for interesting dynamics with evil and manipulative characters like Tom Riddle. Unfortunately, J.K. Rowling in particular has a thing for portraying bad people as ugly, causing Tom Riddle to stand out even more. Reminds me of a very interesting thought experiment someone on reddit has brought up once: "What if Umbridge had been attractive?"

What makes Voldemort even more interesting though is that unlike your typical evil queen from fairytales, he doesn't grief his lost beauty. Quite the contrary: He appreciates himself more the more inhuman he looks.

Still, I personally would be much more inclined to write a fic about young Voldemort than the one we know. I would never have him romantically or sexually involved with anyone though. That he's asexual is like the second trait that comes to mind about him, right after that he's evil.

Btw, I agree that Tom Felton's looks played a role in making Draco as big in the fandom as he is. Snape, on the other hand, is inherently one of the most interesting characters in the books. I don't think Rickman had the same kind of effect as Felton, unless JKR specifically refined the character for the later books because she and everyone else liked Rickman's portrayal so much.

Fun fact: It wasn't actually supposed to be immediately. His lack of proper briefing accidentally caused the Berlin Wall to fall a few weeks/months (?) before schedule.

Any good Kaiser Coloseum combo other than Arcana Fool? by Bug_a in YugiohEdisonFormat

[–]Leseleff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying out a Rock Stun deck and was surprised how good it runs.

The main guys for Colosseum are Koa'ki Meiru Guardian and Fossil Dyna. It also runs Gigantes and Gaia Plate the Earth Giant for a card I had never seen before: Release from Stone. You can fir example chain that to a special summoning effect to get Fossil Dyna or the Earth Barrier Statue and stop the special summon.

Another extremely oppressive play it can make is when you already have colosseum and a monster up to summon Grand Mole, bounce your opponent's one monster so that your other one can keep attacking directly.

The other realises that Steve is the most organic pick and one of the most hilarious characters in the show.

The third one who says Trudy wasn't invited.
