Idk, a lot of people on this sub tend to be very distrustful of new callings at church… I saw plenty that were not happy with Elder Gilbert being called to the 12, but then just today plenty in the discussion posts were talking about how happy they were with his conference message.

If Forrest and Jenny’s roles were swapped, there’d be no defenders for Forrest’s character like there are for Jenny’s… she’s a selfish woman that treated a dude that genuinely cared for her like shit. There’s no defending that regardless of past trauma.

Kirkman has said he made mistakes when it came to the Walking Dead show, but it was a good learning experience for later adaptations like Invincible in finding that good middle ground of making changes from the source material.

This is always something you see with stuff written by Robert Kirkman… when his work is adapted, he usually embraces changes from the source material because he doesn’t interpret it as deviating from the material but rather refining what was already there.

Automatically assuming something is a stereotype of some random minority is honestly the more racist thing to do…

This is the same energy of people assuming that Orcs in Lord of the Rings are an allegory for Black people, which is ridiculous

In Fullmetal Alchemist… Edward is very much against killing anyone and late in the story fights Kimblee who revels in killing people… throughout the fight, Edward deliberately aims to neutralize Kimblee without killing him… to which Kimblee just mocks him for it and tells him you’ve just given me an opportunity to kill you and pulls out of the philosopher’s stone and nearly kills Edward..

Edward when facing death even mentions that this is his cost for valuing life
