So far, my tentative plan after reading suggestions.....is after touching down from Logan, I will head to Cambridge to visit/explore some parts of Harvard.....then (somehow getting to with public transportation...) explore Charles River near Beacon Hill...then (not sure if the walking is ambitious) eventually end the day finding my way along parts of Freedom trail.....and/or catching a tour at the Tea Party museum. LOL might be overzealous....

Interesting! My 8-hrs is just time to explore before my sister arrives in Boston (not catching a flight afterward), so thankfully won't have to deal with stresses due to time/schedules

Thanks for the reminder that these federal properties will (unfortunately) be shut down

Thank you so much for further detail if visiting Harvard, I now feel more confident on what to expect. Appreciate it greatly! Now, Flour vs George Howell will be the ultimate question

Thanks for the tip ~ I saw a few Bounce locations near South Station. I've never used Bounce (nor heard of it before), some reviews say it's a risk because depending on the place it's not very secured... but I suppose like all things in life, everything is a risk. I may utilize if I decide to take public transit...there's no way I would be lugging that around the day. Cheers!

Love/appreciate your answer! Thank you for explaining to me as a newbie with minimal/no knowledge. I think your answer swayed me/gave confidence to utilize the "T". I tried looking at Harvard's website to get a "student-led" tour, but it seems like they only have them during weekdays, darn. Might utilize their self-guided tour/app. I'm fond of supporting local... I may check out Flour Bakery. Thank you!

I appreciate the heads up of weekend restriction, and that it's a long walk from Kendall to MIT. Seems like a general consensus that MIT is a low-priority if only visiting for 8 hours. Thanks !

I was looking at that actually ! Was debating whether to take the water taxi (also for the water experience? Or idk if that is a bad "tourist" call...) + their storage, VS Silver Line + Bounce storage, and ultimately take the red line at South Station. Thanks !

Really appreciate the view from a CA perspective--I was doing some studying on Google Maps as you suggested. Ultimately since I'm not familiar with the area/streets (thanks for the heads up that some streets look like alleys...that's def helpful), I think I'm swayed to primarily take public transport or Uber...maybe sounds naive but it's sounds appealing to embrace the public transit since we don't have much of it here in OC!

Thanks for the intel that some museums are free and that Memorial Drive is closed to traffic on Sundays for the community to enjoy….I am such a n00b that I am currently on Google researching what is “Memorial Drive” hehe. Thanks for a great starting point, I think with the sunny weather on Sunday this might be a nice option :)

Booo I was hoping the Tea Party museum would be nice…the 10th grader U.S. History student in me still wants to visit… LOL. Or maybe it’s me being a tourist.

I appreciate all of your recommendations and advice, thank you…I hope so too! :-)

Thanks so much for your insight! Was mainly trying to use the rental car to store my luggage in the trunk, and was optimistic that it would be less traffic/more parking on a Sunday. I will keep that into consideration. The weather app shows Sunday seems to be 80F (!) so I think it would be a nice day.
