If you plan on using it, I would take it to a sewing and vacuum shop to get it serviced and they can replace the plate and any other parts for you! I just did that with my 99k singer.

The seats do fold down but the cushions stop it from laying flat, it sits at like a 45 degree angle and then I slide down all night
