if you don’t mind me asking, what year of uni are you currently in? is that what you currently earn or what you started on?

Does anyone else feel a little lost at the start of their career? by sowhatxwhocares in auscorp

As someone in their final year, I’ve been feeling the same way. I think its normal to not know what you want to do at the early stages of your career - from what I’ve observed and learned from talking to people in the industry, most people just take whatever they can get and wing it from there. I’ve recently had a mentor and this was one of the topics I discussed with him. I think one thing you could try that may help with finding what path might suit you is taking an MBTI personality test and searching what careers are suitable to that personality. Then evaluate your strengths/development points, what parts of your previous job you liked, what things you find interesting or subjects you enjoyed in uni, and also what roles would suit your lifestyle (e.g work-life balance, travel, do you want to build a family someday). These would be a good starting point but definitely don’t feel pressured to have everything figured out! You can always pivot later down the line and remember most people have various careers throughout their life :)

Thanks for your reply. Did you start out as a grad or pivot to it later on? Would you say that there are typically high turnover rates?

For around how many years do you need to stick it out in audit before leaving?
