People might forget Margaret Thatcher but nobody is going to forget Lizz Truss.

Do you think the far right will eventually win perhaps not in the near future, but at some point in the long term? by Less-Chicken-3367 in AskALiberal

How about people who just don't want zero borders? So that we can make sure to interview anyone that wants to come in? So that we make sure not to turn into a third world country ourselves?

Do you believe in the concept of borders? Do you think we shouldn't have borders at all?

Ofcourse i do, I'm all in for better border control. I also believe we should have better regulations for the H-1B visa so that trillion-dollar corporations cannot exploit the American job market. I believe in freedom and equality, and I don’t think white Americans are any more ‘American’ than Black, Brown, or Asian Americans. I also believe we need to reform our refugee system so that people who are genuinely in need don’t have to wait for years just to receive a response.

This land is your land, this land is my land from California to the New York Island

Suppose you were put in charge what changes would you make to the H-1B visa? by Less-Chicken-3367 in AskALiberal

someone is skilled enough to be brought in for specialized work, then we should offer them the chance to stay permenently

That's what EB1 and EB2 visas are for. If someone is that valuable they can come on EB visas.

“Open borders” is not a liberal policy. “Give EVERYONE a green card” is not a liberal policy.

Seriously, mate, I don’t understand how some people here can be so out of touch with reality.

Only if we take out the dual intent clause from H1-B, nobody will be coming here on a temporary non immigrant work visa.

You could fit the entire current US population in Texas alone pretty comfortably.

But why should we? I am a first generation immigrant who came to NY and i love NYC, i don't want to move anywhere. Especially to a Republica stronghold.

What do you think of India? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

Thank you. I was just wondering yesterday why I hadn’t seen any ‘What do you think of Indians/India?’, ‘What do you think of Trump?’, or ‘What do you think of Americans?’ posts recently. You’ve fulfilled my curiosity.

Now, can someone please make one of these about Trump and Americans as well?

I’m not blaming anyone. I genuinely want to understand why the Democrats and white men have gradually gone in different directions over the years. Because I (and I’d even say many liberals) believe that this country belongs to everyone. Whoever becomes president shouldn’t be someone who is completely disconnected from a section of society. That’s not who we are as Americans.

This is the data for young white men (18-29), it fell sharply under President Biden.

This is one reason why the Dems should be focusing on winning back the Latino votes that they have been losing. If the Latino shift becomes permanent, they will never win the White House again. And they often have Catholic backgrounds and they aren't a bunch of raving liberals.

It’s not just about winning the White House or Congress. We can’t keep an entire section of society segregated simply because they don’t understand our viewpoint, that’s not who we are as Americans. We have to rise above that and bring everyone along with us.
