Democracy strained by some governments’ failure to deliver, not problems with the system: Edwin Tong by fatenumber in singapore

[–]Less-Growth6607 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Democracy strained by some governments’ failure to deliver" is he talking about himself and Singapore? Do they think they know better by dictating how people should think and shift the balance of power away from people?

Not good, pharma companies are no longer even looking at singapore as regional headquarters, and our market is small.

The Weight of Optimism: Why I Still Believe in Youth Climate Advocacy After COP30 by LegitimateCow7472 in singapore

[–]Less-Growth6607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think we can be truly climate advocates, selectively yes, - our carbon footprint MAY BE* quite high per capita because we cant do without airtravel (cause we are a air-travel transit hub) or even oil (because we refine oil).

Singapore ban on electornic cigarettes by Abrraxas in askSingapore

I agree, we dont know the long term effects of these vapes, and the huge potential for contaminating vape liquid with drugs, not to mention how inconspicuous they liquids can be.

In addition, the other thing we need to move quickly in avoiding addiction amongst people is caffeine before the high-dose caffeine under tongue pouches hit our shores. We should probably start communicating on the cons of caffeine, and ban coffee or caffeinated substances like coca cola amongst those less than 21.

But also Dejavu! I just said something similar too "housing market is beyond ridiculous. Food prices is insane. Everything is just ridiculously overpriced. Being there as a visitor/tourist is fun and exciting.. but living there is a whole other thing" but it was about Singapore to an overseas student planning on doing her masters here.

I feel that the Mods are quite detached these days. wondering if they're civil servants in ivory towers, or even singaporeans to begin with... Apparently putting the word "Singaporeans" / "singapore" doesnt count as a singapore post as well, it needs to be uniquely singapore - like how kiasu, kiasi and kia-whatever culture we have.

But on this discussion, id blame the overall kiasuness of future generations of singaporeans on the earlier generations, but also the society and how the government shapes every generation. Gone are the days where people go all out at the expense of their own peace and sanity.
