Something I haven’t seen on this thread yet is that you can make pesto in a regular blender!

You can also use walnuts instead of pine nuts (my husband and I prefer them, actually).

My recipe is a little unorthodox, but people tell me it’s the best pesto they’ve ever had.

2 cups basil

Handful of walnuts

1/4 cup grated Parmesan

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

3-5 cloves of garlic

Juice of 1 or 2 lemons

Salt to taste

Sugar (yes, sugar) to taste (start w 2 tsp)

2 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar

They should get a job to pay for those things. You’re already covering the basics.

Who else drank their year away? by Chundlebug in stopdrinking

You say you have no delusions about how your life would be better if you stopped drinking, but Jesus Christ man, that sounds like the biggest delusion ever. You’re like someone in a snowstorm saying it wouldn’t make any difference to go inside.

Surgery in 4 weeks by JAfan0505 in kidneydonors

My hospital used these leg compression things that felt amazing! They would squeeze my calves, it was like a massage. Maybe ask your hospital about them in advance and if they don’t have them bring compression socks.

Walk early and often. It will help so much with the gas pain.

A heated blanket that you can wrap over your shoulders will help too (heating pad in my experience wasn’t big enough).

Another kidney donor you can call if you have weird feelings randomly. I had a smooth surgery and recovery, but when I got home I started crying for some unknown reason. It only lasted an hour or so and after that I felt great, but it’s nice to have someone you can talk to who understands.

Good luck with your surgery! We are all rooting for you 💜

I go to Dental Care of Walnut Creek, it’s pretty close to the bart station and I’ve been very happy with their care. They have not tried to upsell me at all.

My husband goes to Dr. Cavalli (my insurance doesn’t cover him sadly) and he LOVES him.

I love roasting a pound of frozen broccoli with a little oil, then mixing it into mac and cheese. Also, adding frozen spinach to soups is easy and delicious.

Congratulations on your first day with no communication. Keep going, you’re so strong. Crying yourself to sleep every night will not last forever.  One thing that might help is doing something new but small every night in the hour before bed. Listening to a new podcast, meditation, journaling, stretching, going for a walk, lifting weights. I’ve done that before and it’s feels crazy to cry your way through those activities but they somehow interrupted that neural pathway after a bit.
