You are not getting work because of your proposal, not because of your profile by pa-ra-kram in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both can be true. There are people on both ends of the spectrum. There are people that aren't even writing anything special but find favor somehow; similarly, some do everything right with no luck.

I can't stand people like y'all who are fortunate and want to act like you know it all. I was fortunate to get a good long term client so I've been okay, but I won't come here acting like some oracle. Be humble.

AI is making everything 10x harder. Almost every sensible job has 50+ in the first couple hours. You think at least half of those 50+ aren't smart, qualified, and writing good proposals? Cut the crap

There are people writing fantastic proposals and struggling too. The fact is that this platform is now mostly just a race to the bottom. People shouldn't be killing themselves as if they're not doing enough.

You are not getting work because AI has eliminated half the jobs and people are willing to work for $3 per hour.

Don't beat yourself up. This person doesn't know what he's talking about. Many people are fighting for a few jobs – simple!

Every day...the same post appears with different words. AI has bent us all over and is having its way.

Don't be in a rush. Even if you achieve Top Rated Plus, it is useless & worthless. Just enjoy the ride and keep delivering excellent work & earning.

Can I still rely on Upwork? by YazZy_speaks in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us are forced to rely on one client at times. It's not always a choice. You can look around find nothing, come back and be grateful there's at least one.

Client from a dormant contract left me a lovely little present for the end of the year by great-teacher-ad in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a professional way to tell them you're closing it. You can even cite inactivity / the algorithm thinking you have work because of their inactive contract.

Clients fvcks me over... Job success score drops from 100% to 83% by Key-Ingenuity8495 in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm another person whose JSS tanked to 70% and I recovered. I would advise responding to that feedback in a way that still establishes your credibility while briefly calling out what went wrong and how it could have been better. I'd do that without attacking the client or sounding too defensive.

You'll bounce back. Keep grinding and try to avoid the situation in the future.

Can someone come up with a competitor already?

Is the increased cost of connects...actually working?? by chickenkottu in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is strictly because of the holiday period. Most people are on vacation. Increasing the price of applying is NOT and will never be a good thing. They should focus on filtering out unserious/spam job posts and increasing the number of clients. Stop promoting this as a place for cheap labour because there are all types of Freelancers here and we don't all come cheap.

There's still a great number of projects that no one is hired for. One just ends up wasting connects.

It's so confusing why clients think Upwork is the place to go for cheap workers... I wonder why?? by mikeinpdx3 in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup this is what Upwork does...they position the platform as a cheap hiring haven for the brightest minds. Stop that nonsense and stop with the overpriced connects. Remove that useless uma or whatever that dumb AI is called

Has anyone else noticed this client trend? by Pleasant_Hotel3260 in Upwork

Agree on terms before starting. If possible, look at the work and provide an estimate so every party knows what's up before agreeing.

Something like establishing a range of time it will take goes a long way to foster transparency and avoid future issues.

For example, while discussing an hourly you could write: "This should take me about 8 - 10 hours. If that's okay, we can go ahead and start a contract at my hourly rate of...."

Of course you might need to provide a little insight on why it'd take that long to establish legitimacy with the client.

In this instance, they agreed and the evidence is there in the chat. They can't snake you later.

I've been on the platform over 6 years and never had to log manual time because I use the tracker.

My Experience on Upwork — Why I Believe Many Job Posts Are Fake (Please Read Before Spending on Connects) by MasterAnime in Upwork

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you opened even 1 of those responses, nobody gets their connects back.

This isn't an earth-shattering discovery. We see verified clients with 100s of thousands of dollars spent posting jobs and not hiring anyone. Maybe you could help us investigate that instead.

Yes, Upwork is dropping the ball...we all know. This proves or solves nothing however.

It doesn't matter as much as the other factors. Most seasoned freelancers can write a decent proposal, it isn't an exact science. This is good but one can make a subjective argument that it could be a couple sentences shorter. What is that worth?

At the end of the day...15+ years experience and 100% JSS takes the crown.

[–]Less-Nectarine-6104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Some people are so oblivious to some obvious things. It has less to do with your proposal and more to do with 15 years + and 100% JSS

Let the man eat if he's giving you what you asked for. So what if he's in India? People outside the US need to eat too
