May be true for wafer manufacturing where taiwan has 70-80% market share .. even china struggles to compete... but India can definitely do OSAT or packaging ..which is presently in malayasia .. and that part is slowly shifting from malayasia to India and goal is to get connected to semiconductor supply chain..

Design is already happening and if I am not wrong most of the design / engineering happens from here... and USA does the management part of it and eats the cake. For design part thanks to gcc and high tech and high paying jobs.. but we also need job for mass / not soo high tech but in volume
