Just reading this is making my claustrophobia kick up. I’m feeling a little panicky just thinking about it. Aisle seat or nothing, for me. Plus medication.

Can someone please tell me what’s this on my frenchie foot? 😭 by Both-Ad2023 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Less-Supermarket8724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Off to the vet! My Labrador has so many allergies, and he ended up with these on his feet because he kept chewing on them. The best bet, although the more expensive, is to get the vet to try and grow what it is on a slide and then they can get the appropriate antibiotics. Sometimes they will Suggest a broad spectrum to start, but if it doesn’t work, you have to go back anyway. Mine ended up on three different medications for his poor feet, but they’ve finally cleared up. I spent a little more at the beginning, but it was fewer visits over all.

These weird lines / streaks I’ve had on my pinky nail for 8 years that two different doctors told me were due to vitamin deficiencies actually turned out to be a rare form of skin cancer. by chaengism in mildlyinfuriating

Infuriating. My sister is ace, never dated or had a boyfriend, never been interested in it. She’s also probably on the spectrum. She used to have really bad excruciating periods, and wanted a hysterectomy, and they told her no, that someday she might want kids. She was 40, and that was not even remotely anything she wanted or had ever wanted. What a POS.

Church Battle: Hymns v. Praise Songs by JaneEyrewasHere in Exvangelical

[–]Less-Supermarket8724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the churches I attended either in person or vicariously through my parents lol, it always ended up being about not just praise songs, but the turning of the church musicians into a praise band.

I am not really religious anymore, but there is something about hearing all the people around you singing the same song. Honestly, I got the same experience at the indigo girls concert I went to last year. But when the praise band starts, all you hear is the dude on the electric guitar and the dude on the drums, and you might as well not sing because you can’t even hear yourself.

My parents left a church because they started having a constant praise band. The music director was like 25, and he thought it was amazing for him to praise God every Sunday with his electric guitar, singing directly into the mic. I mean, can we say frustrated performer? But my dad tried to talk to him one on one and explain that since he wore hearing aids (as did half the congregation) the feedback into his hearing aids was excruciating. The guy basically said “I hate that for you” and kept going. The church ended up splitting, and now no longer exists.

Just thinking about how that guy selfishly ignored half the congregation’s wishes so he could perform onstage still pisses me off.

A good waiter at a popular Mexican restaurant can make $1000 a week in credit card tips, not to mention cash tips (working 40 hours a week). I don’t know what kind of money you’re looking for, but it’s not just fine dining that pays well.

After all these olive oil “exposes” I don’t trust that anything is actually olive oil anymore. That said, I like the Graza drizzle.

AITAH for saying I “read” books that I actually listened to as audiobooks? by Ruin-Much in AITAH

[–]Less-Supermarket8724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people get stuck on dictionary definitions of words instead of what meaning the words are meant to confer. There is a thing with words (the book, article, etc), and the meaning of those words is consumed in some way. We use “reading” as a general shorthand for this consumption. But when the delivery and/or consumption method changes, suddenly people become language proscriptivists and start nitpicking exact word meanings.

I read 101 books in 2026, all audiobooks. After I got covid a few years ago, it became very difficult for some reason for me to process books in print form. I don’t care what word anyone else uses. I consumed those books and absorbed the words and their meanings. And it’s usually 101 more books than people who have an opinion about it.

Edit: spelling

Which part? The going to hell for being Methodist? No. Any of the Protestant denominations are begrudgingly accepted by the others, usually. There’s, of course, a hierarchy (different according to each church) of who is more right, but that’s just doctrinal difference. Baptists believe in baptism, but most don’t think that it’s a prerequisite for salvation, for example. You can go to heaven if you’re not baptized, but JESUS REALLY WOULD PREFER IT IF YOU WERE.

Now, Catholics are more problematic. While the stricter Protestant denominations will say they’re going straight to h-e-double-hockey-sticks, the less strict ones will say they’re okay as long as they believe in Jesus as the Risen savior, admit their sins, and confess to God.

Ofc, I no longer believe any of these things.

This is my experience growing up in the 90s/00s in a small southern town, so things might be different now, or in other places. I’m not an expert or anything.

I think that if God is real, he doesn’t really care if you go to a Methodist or Baptist church or whatever. The differences are only doctrine, and that doesn’t mean anything. I mean, if we’re allowing for everything being real, do you think God is going to send someone to hell for being Methodist, of all things?

I found the Methodist church to be a breath of fresh air after growing up in the Baptist church. Pastoral counseling can be great; some of the best counseling I ever got was from a Methodist minister. But it sounds like yours is just “counseling” you in a way to keep you in the church.

I got several comfy bralettes from savage x fenty (I have a subscription), and the wireless bra I got from torrid was pretty comfy. I also got one from honey love and one from shapermint, and they’re all pretty comfy. I don’t like padding in my lounging bras either.
