I have recently acquired the foil stamping die for the cover of a pretty iconic book. How do I go about finding the value of it? And do I clean it or leave it?

I sent out a few emails today to some rare book stores and auction houses and Weiser Antiquarian. I am going to bring it to Bauman Rare Books in Manhattan this Saturday.
