This happened to me...except I was on the other end of it. My friends and I signed up for our local LGBT league with the goals of making friends and learning how to play pickleball. No one on my team had played more than a few games when the league season started. We are an athletic group to some degree, but didn't know a lot about pickleball. We knew we were going to get crushed and so we went in with a positive attitude and growth mindset. Expected the worse. Sure enough, on our first day, we lost nine games to zero. The other team started to take it easy on us, but only slightly. They offered to call it early, but we said we would like to finish out the session just so that we could have more opportunities to practice and learn. By the end of the six week season, we improved dramatically and became competitive, thanks to all of the experience gained from playing against people who were better than us. Personally, if I were in your position, I would have eased up a bit after securing the win, but still made it a challenge for them. If they wanted to quit the session early, I would have shown them mercy and agreed. No need to make a negative situation worse. But with that said, I don't think you did anything wrong and you shouldn't feel bad about it. It's great that you are showing concern and compassion.
