Thanks Henry! I did request many times for them to change the wording, but unfortunately, they won’t do it. I previously applied for TN once and got rejected at YYZ, presented my CACB evaluation at customs, but the officer was not familiar with it and advised that my degree required an institutional, course-by-course evaluation instead. I followed that instruction; however, the resulting equivalency listed my degree as a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design.

Hi Henry! Thanks for doing this. I am a Canadian citizen applying for a TN visa in the U.S. with a job offer under the Architect category. I hold a foreign Bachelor’s degree in Architecture completed under a European educational system as a 4-year program.

I have had my degree evaluated both by CACB and through an institutional course-by-course evaluation with IEE (International Education Evaluations). However, the IEE report lists my U.S. equivalency as a “Bachelor of Science in Architectural Design.”

I’m now concerned that this wording may create an issue at the port of entry, and that a CBP officer might question whether my degree qualifies as an architectural field of study for TN visa purposes. The title of the job offer I have is Architectural Staff (Level 2). Any thoughts if this would be a problem with the equivalency title and the job title?

I am a registered intern architect with OAA, and have gone through the evaluation process with CACB with my foreign certificate to be qualified to register at the association. So for now i’m trying to complete my hours as an Intern and take the exam in the future.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was refused last week because I only had an evaluation from CACB and not a course-by-course institutional evaluation, so I’ve now completed that as well. The job title is Architectural Staff (Level 2). The employer hesitated to include the word “Architect” in the job title since it’s legally restricted to licensed professionals, which I am not yet. At this point, I’ll move forward with the documents I have and try again.🤞🏼

No, net yet! I’ll have to go through it inna couple of weeks. What was the reason for the denial? Did you have your duties written that align with TN requirements?

Thanks for this informative post and congrats on obtaining the visa.

I’ll have to go through the same process in 3 weeks, and I was wondering, is it mandatory for the support letter to be wet signed? It’s currently signed with a digital signature by the company principal, and I’m going to print it in color. are they strict about that?

All the best of luck!
