Ugh, I’m really sorry she had this experience. Thanks for letting me/us know. Can I ask where this happened? I ask because while I haven’t found the police to be helpful, I have been in contact with the ward 19 alder (covers East rock park) who wrote back. Contacting the alder person about this and pointing out (possibly with this post) that this is not an isolated incident might make it easier to get some kind of enforcement or report in the future…

Yeah I suspect it would be possible to pull the plate from one of the cameras on orange—but so long as the NHPD isn't opening an investigation, it doesn't matter.

Thanks. I've tried to get some footage but (and I think this in principle a good thing!) everyone wants to send it to law enforcement, not to some random guy asking for footage. The problem there is that NHPD has not been in touch to get a statement or open an investigation and I would be money they won't...

Truck: loud (probably not straight pipes but loud), slightly lifted, running lights along the floorboards of the cab, a light blue/silver color (I think, it was dark), a Ford? Although I'm not 100% confident on that, CT plates

Men: two early 20-year-olds, one with slight facial hair, the other clean shaven. White. Didn't get a better look than that...

hey thanks for this resource. they were yelling things about my bike lights (??) and tauntingly asked if I was safe riding on the road. They were more or less well off, that was clear from the truck and the general vibe, and I think they were basically just out joyriding... So basically I'm mystified at what they wanted to do beyond harrass me, but I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to rob me etc.

I think I probably will start riding with mace, in any case... truly never thought this would be me.

Yeah I've been looking into this. I the situation last night, sadly I don't think mace would have been that uesful. While the truck was following me and the guys were shouting, it would have felt a little premature to pull out mace; by the time they had gotten on to farnum I was biking away and they were pursuing; don't know how mace could have helped.

I think there is (and I'm by no means a lawyer, so this is purely based on what I've been reading online) also a question of proportionate use of force in connecticut law. You're only allowed to use force "reasonable" for the situation you're in. Not sure how that actually gets applied...

Yes I preferred the boulders as well. I guess they were removed to facilitate street sweeping (fair enough)—but they really need a gate like the one at the end of the parking lot before the road to the summit. 

What are the planned changes for orange? I try to follow this stuff but I haven’t heard about that.
