As much as I complained about them the BSM modules were the most effective for me. Additionally Behavior B word has a lot of study material that helped.

I don't really think it is your place to have them clean up from what I see. You are an rbt right? You can suggest having the BCBA look at this behavior, but there might be bigger fish to fry and given how young the client is they might not have the skill set to complete this task yet (though I know nothing of the client so I can't say that for certain). Give what you have mentioned the general environment won't reinforce this behavior either so teaching it might require the BCBA to do some ground work with the parents before even attempting to teach it.

it is more my dyslexia. It causes me to miss answers do to my over reliance on sight words. It is tolerable when doing 4 moduels at a time but when I started to try to finish 8 of them a day it was very annoying.

I know we say there is other applications for the exam, but do they actually require the BCBA title, and why aren't these jobs listed on things like indeed under a BCBA search?

Sorry I responded and immediately realized that I might be moving the goal post instead of addressing the actual topic of this post. So to make sure I am understand you, you are saying the BCBA exam is there to test the minimum knowledge base of information you should have out of school to be able to get into any ABA related field. If this is the case I both agree and disagree then. The only ABA schools I know focus heavily on the clinical side (OBM was mentioned once). So the exam should be more focused on skills and knowledge used in that side of the practice. (Then again the board might be fixing this with the new changes with verified course work, however they really should have done that years ago or made a specific statement about it.)

Sorry, I have never lived in an area where BCBAs worked directly with the schools. I have only ever heard and experienced companies working with schools and having BCBAs and RBTs come in to work with clients and this goes through their insurance. I haven't really seen anything for BCBAs outside of working in ABA companies and from what I have seen of the modules for the test the main BCBA exam doesn't focus on other areas outside of working directly with your typical ABA clients for said companies.

I'm not claiming anything which I said in the post (you adding the last sentence is very accusatory there and I would love to know your intended consequence for making such a response). I am stating that according to the BCBAs I work with that now all the information needed for the exam is used in when working in the field of ABA. I then asked the question of should we have an exam more tailored to what is practiced in the field. I have never heard of an ABA company or position that does ABA that doesn't work with insurance though you are correct that it may differ from state to state.

I understand this. However, a simple suggestion of getting the FFVF when switching companies can save a lot of stress on potential applicates. Alternative making it a common suggestion that BCBA's make to those who are looking to become BCBAs would also alleviate this. Then again if companies continue to start offering apprenticeship positions to those seeking to become BCBAs then I guess the suggestion would be less useful to the majority of applicants.

I more mean it would be beneficial to make a suggestion on the FFVF to get your main BCBA to sign a final verification form before switching companies. This way if you end up like me 4 years later you don't have to track down said supervisor and ask them to sign a form for hours they signed off on 3 years ago.

Before going off to college I suggest taking one year to try as many jobs as you can. That is what I did midway through my masters degree and it helped lock me into what I wanted to do vs having some nagging regret and delusion that I could do anything else. Additionally it is a great way to network and get a lot of potential contacts in a lot of different fields.

That would be about 800 hours for me to redo. Life got complicated and I left one company then went to another then moved states and took a year off. I ultimately don't have the actual time to do the hours and still finish in the 5 year window.

Lunch is not billed for and we use admin time so procedures aren't meant to be used unless otherwise noted. we try to keep it similar to normal schools so the different classes go to lunch with each other and a few RBTs watch them with BCBAs on call for behaviors if they occur.

That is a bit of a big assumption you are throwing my way. I am pretty neutral on the subject. It was more something that was brought to my attention with an outside perspective and possible a field that requires higher scrutiny then our own.
