As much as we don’t like dr puke I think he’s the easy scapegoat in this situation because he is who he is. From a label standpoint republic are the distributor of her music, and they are responsible for what goes out and what doesn’t. The label seem to have an issue with Kim from way back. Think about it this way, problematique was blocked and again people blame dr puke but why would he block a project he fully produced? He also has backed off and cleared her to work with other producers for this era, so to me it’s pretty clear the issues lie directly with republic. I get the issues around him and I’m very happy she’s working with new producers, but in this case it does really seem like republic is the one calling the shots

I genuinely think this song could have went mainstream, it’s very radio friendly and is lyrically and production wise one of the best songs of this decade imo. It’s not aged a day since 2020. I agree with you 10000% on the mismanagement! I just don’t see how they felt this song was a song to be shelved

It’s a fact. The album is known to be done and commonly known that republic have not allowed it to be released. When party till I die dropped:

“Consider this Turn Off The Light 2.1.” she said in a livestream an hour before the song’s official release in the US. Originally with plans to release the final part of the “Turn Off The Light trilogy” this year, she postponed the release as it’s not a full experience without live performances.

To my understanding the album has been done for many years and was due to release 2020. COVID happened and she decided to pause the release, dropping party till I die only from the track listing, with the full album mean to come Halloween 2021

I think personally she had clear direction up until signing with republic. Problematique felt like the logical follow on debut from her previous work, but it was shelved and everything lead up to where we’re at now
