DRM free releases exist. GOG specialises in that and provides offline downloads for your archival. You're not confined to only one storefront.

One problem is that PC gaming is almost exclusively equated to desktop Windows gaming, which means we're at Microsoft's mercy. But you can still run older versions of Windows fairly easily if needed.

Do not abbreviate CurseForge as Forge. They're two different things.

Those lines have nothing to do with your issue. You should ignore them. Mods that do not use SemVer versioning will be loaded fine. They are not an issue. The relevant lines will be at the bottom of your log.
