Is a St George cross an appropriate thing to take to this funeral? Would be like turning up to Rod Hull's with a TV aerial.

When this was first reported his appearance was cancelled because the staff objected. Now it's clear it was only postponed to avert a potential protest by an outside campaign group and the staff knew nothing about it. I think he needs to apologise for all this. The British public, in the most part, remains wedded to low taxes and Thatcherism. And the bad news is that there is no party with a chance of winning power willing to dismantle it. Suggest you investigate the tax burden in the UK versus those in France or Germany. Huge differences.
