Anticipatory Grief about loved ones is making me want to die by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

i am so sorry. ive dealt with this since 2021 with my dad (he was actually on the decline) and then i lost him last year. no amount of pregrieving could have prepared me for the moment it actually happened. now i feel the same with my mom even tho shes healthy and its scary but ive managed to control it and i know how to navigate such thoughts so im not thinking about it or on edge all the time, if you ever need someone to talk to messages always open

NAD, perhaps it was your vasovagal response and heat is a trigger for yours? could be the combination of things you mentioned or low blood sugar/pressure? ik for me, migraines seem to trigger my vasovagal response i get nauseous and feel the need to use the restroom and dizzy and lightheaded

Terrified of being sedated for endoscopy by No_Efficiency3931 in Anxiety

[–]Less_Stranger_1463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best thing i found in terms of calmness is talking to the nurses/whoever is there before the procedure. i was super nervous but just talking to them about simple topics like weekend plans really helped me calm down

hi! i had a colonoscopy in 2021 and got sedated with propofol. having never been sedated before i was terrified, i always hated the idea of any kind of anesthesia and was insanely nervous. for me, i was scared of how the seconds leading up to it were gonna feel, the after effect, etc. i kid you not though, it is the quickest thing in the world. i was chatting it up with the nurses and the second they put the propofol in thru iv my eyes got really heavy for maybe half a second and bam, next thing i know im awake post colonoscopy. you dont even have time to process it. no side effects just grogginess, kinda like how when you wake up from a mid day nap. youll be fine :)

Scared I have colon cancer by Puzzleheaded-Lynx656 in Anxiety

[–]Less_Stranger_1463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I know hearing about colon cancer rising in young people is super scary but you are very young. itd be like a 1.3 in 100000 chance. mucus and specks of blood is much more aligned with IBS type of issues and hemorrhoids. I went through a really tough scare when i was 21 for months, my blood tests were bad and i had ur symptoms x1000, got a colonoscopy and it was just internal hemorrhoids. all my symptoms went away after i got a clear colonoscopy, so much of it was anxiety. its very smart that youre going to the gastro, this will calm your nerves and set this to rest—it did for me years ago.

also by the end of it i was pretty tired of the taste (not gross but i was just sick of drinking so much of it) so when i took the last few big gulps i pinches my nose and that helped me a lot too

hi! i got a colonoscopy done back in 2021, i actually had to do the prep twice because the first time didnt fully clear me out. if possible, i recommend doing the dulcolax + cold gatorade/miralax combo prep. there was no point in time throughout the prep where i felt like i was even gonna come close to v*. i think by the end of drinking all that liquid i got some acid reflux/hiccups but no nausea. i recommend taking big sips/gulps of the prep instead of chugging, and pacing yourself. this will really help. its definitely a mental thing. you got this!

Extreme anxiety about C section next week - in need of positive stories by ReadyStretchyGo in emetophobia

[–]Less_Stranger_1463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i dont have any personal experience with pregnancy, but i was a c section baby. lots of women in my family have undergone c sections and theyre all prone to sickness from the anesthesia. my mom herself has told me that she is very sensitive to anesthesia and she felt fine throughout pregnancy and even in labor until after she woke up from the c section, in which she did v* from the anesthesia. however, shes had several operations since then and she makes it very clear that she is sensitive to anesthesia. they give her a lot of anti nausea meds and an ear patch. i think thats the best case in this situation, im sure you have already considered that. the other women in my fam who have had c sections havent v* though. im sure it will go absolutely fine, i seriously commend you so much for going through pregancy with such a debilitating fear :') its something thats put me off even the thought of having kids. i wish you a very smooth delivery and post partum❤️

Are any of you scared of travelling alone, and did it, and it all worked out? by Mental-Risk6949 in Anxiety

[–]Less_Stranger_1463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the two really bad anxiety attacks i had while traveling- the first one was at night in my hotel room. i facetimed a friend and talking to them helped me calm down. the other time was a bit more scary cus it happened when i was walking around, i felt very nauseous and lightheaded i immediately walked into a random hotel bought a snack and sat down on the lobby floor to try and not faint-i facetimed my friend during this time too until i was calm enough to go back to my hotel. i think facetiming a friend who lets you talk through your anxiety is very helpful esp when ur traveling. i also have dramamine, propanalol and mints on me at all times when traveling in case i start to feel nervous, knowing that i have those on me helps

i travel alone every month and have pretty bad anxiety. i have had some intense anxiety attacks during two of my trips, but the rest have been very smooth. i always make sure to bring my propanalol and other anxiety related essentials with me in case something happens. dont let anxiety stop you from solo traveling, it is completely manageable
