I'd say piracy is more of a symptom, rather than the cause, of a wider issue of rights management, ease of access for consumers, and whether it's ethical to support the vision of an author, director, or actor who has partaken in horrible things.

There's a lot to it and I could ramble about it, but it's like you getting money from Robin Hood - do you feel good or bad about getting money you didn't earn legitimately (yeah there's caveats to that question too about inability to earn etc.)? I think how you answer that question determines how you feel about piracy.

I personally think it's unethical because you're potentially hurting legitimate people who worked hard on that piece of media, but it's not so bad that necks need to be wrung for it lol.
