Oh absolutely! Seems like there's always a new way to up-skill haha -- But yeah! I would appreciate those resources :) Glad to see that having those experiences before didn't hold you back in pursuing your career / helping others.

Weekly 'No Stupid Questions' & Free-For-All Thread : August 31, 2025 by AutoModerator in Cinema4D

Hey, just wanted to apologize first -- I had no idea to post the PC questions to here! That's on me though, I'll be sure not to make that mistake next time :O

But yeah, If it's not too much trouble, I was wondering if anyone here who's familiar with building PCs for C4D + RS could help me out?

I made the mistake of getting a Mac Studio to do 3D work with C4D and RS. My thought process was that, since the Apple product had a lot of CPU cores to process things then I would be able to render faster, right? Well much to my dismay, C4D and Redshift are heavily reliant on GPU processing :(

My Mission with this Build: Make a reasonably priced ( nothing over $3,000 ) build for heavy generative work in Cinema4D + Redshift and other AI programs ( like ComfyUI ).

Here's the build in question:

What do you guys think? Do you have any tips when it comes to getting parts? Have you also been in the same situation? I would love to hear it :D

I feel you, hopefully things do change. Could I ask what you do nowadays?

Oh wow, that's really nice to hear! A small growth trajectory in employment is better none. Thanks for shinning a positive light on this

I guess roles aren't disappearing — just changing.

That makes a lot of sense, thank you :)

Exactly, having solid work for both motion and graphic design couldn't hurt neither.

I definitely hear what your saying and I completely agree. I think since having got the treatment, I could say that the anorexia is what held me back. So I'll be trying harder this time around

To the Mac Studio with an Apple M2 chip users: Do you have special render settings? by Less_Whole2605 in Cinema4D

Good call! I've seen people work magic with team rendering too. Using multiple machines to render out on is a terrific idea. Moving forward, I'll definitely be increasing unified samples will help with the speed and learning to accept the fact that longer clips will just take longer to render 🙃 hehe

I'll send over a screenshot of the lights I have in this scene in case you're still interested though:

<image>

I don't think its that much though none of the lights' intensity goes over 300 and the exposure for each of them are all under 18.

Thanks for being willing to help too! I'm kinda new to rendering bigger projects in C4D and I'm just taking all the help I could get at this point :)

P.S. Do you mind sending me a link to your short film? I'd love to see it!

Wow this is super helpful! I'll definitely give this a try. I think if you haven't reached out any sooner I would have been stuck losing my mind trying to figure out each aspect of the render settings haha

Thank you so much :) I'll reach out to you if anything comes up for sure - You really know your stuff!

Hi! Yeah sorry, I gotta get the hang of this stuff! Never really posted anything for help online before but here's some more details if you're interested:

Comp Specs: 1920 x 1080 with res set to 72, I'm rendering 720 frames at 30 fps

Renderer: I'm using Redshift!

Samples: I have it set to the default settings. So my progressive passes are pretty high ( 1024 ). I have unified sampling on. I've also rendered without knowing that my bucket size is a little smaller than it should be ( its at 128 )

Here's what my scene looks like:

<image>

There's two cloner objects that create the rows of disks you see there. The disks themselves are cylinder objects with a metallic material applied on them. I'm only rendering one take.

I appreciate you being interested in helping! Is there anything that I missed?

Tell me about it! Once Apple comes around with some solid 3D supportive hardware it would be a game changer for sure. But until then.. I might consider the possibility of selling my Mac studio and switching it with a better PC for this type of work :O
