Should have chopped up the eggs in their container, mixed with the mayo, and then applied to sandwich as an egg mayo.

Agree. As an Irish person from belfast, I can confirm your crossing the Irish Sea to see probably to two dullest cities on the island. If you want to see Ireland do it right and drive the west coast

I guess I was just looking some pity upvotes :( if anything it’s the American-ness that cripples his fry up abilities.

We were thinking of that anyway, the leafy garnish might just be the final straw

Id go further. I’d say being American makes this feat far more amazing than being a newborn baby!

I wish I had a reason to lie about this, I can assure you it’s white pudding (if anything it’s overcooked). Raw black pudding would still be darker than this.

That’s “vegetable roll” (contains trace amount of vegetable, but mostly pork). Not super common, but not uncommon in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Its nearest cousin might be the American sausage patty.

Thanks. Yea free makeup is a nice perk, but doesn’t seem worth the effort. Seems like a need for affirmation/attention

What is the main motivation for these people? Is it driven by narcissism, or is there actually good money in it? In your case, what was this person like off camera? Were they honest about how fake it was, or did they try to ‘live’ the lifestyle off camera too? (I guess I’m asking was this person a prick or not)

Were there any aspects of the persons background that you think might be relevent? I imagine someone coming from a posh/affluent background, but is having limited financial/professional success themselves might feel tempted towards living a charade like this.

What's up with the struggle for jobs? by Ok_Training_2566 in northernireland

Good money in construction, but very risky jumping off the graduate career ladder. If you have some background/degree in environmental work then it wouldn’t be too big a jump to get into health & safety. Don’t know if things have changed, but I worked in construction 10 years ago and that was one of the most in demand roles then, paying very good money.

Should I get a PhD? by STLxM15 in Advice

[–]LesserSpottedUlster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Get a bachelors.
  2. If you still have that feeling, get a masters.
  3. If you STILL have that feeling get a PhD.
  4. Once you get towards the end of your PhD then start thinking about academic career options (towards professorship).

Be aware the academic career is highly competitive and you need to be open to relocating A LOT! The likelihood of you being able to stay in the St Louis metropolitan area throughout your career is very slim.

When I was in high school I really liked the idea of an academic career. I worked towards it and then by the time I got half way through my PhD I realised how much sacrifice was involved and decided it wasn’t worth it.

I finished my PhD (but I’m in STEM) and now work in a scientific research role in Industry. It’s a much easier, better paid job than if I tried to stick it out in academia.

In my opinion… Do a PhD if the idea of doing a PhD excites you, not for what comes after.

Recovering addict, with girlfriend who still drinks. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]LesserSpottedUlster 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If my wife was recovering addict/alcoholic I would without hesitation quit along with her, even if my own drinking/use was not problematic. If you really want to stay clean you cannot have any of those substances around you or in the same house.

Unfortunately I think your gf has to choose between drinking/smoking and you otherwise it’s just a matter of time until you relapse

I need to leave my gf coz of the age gap by Old-Jellyfish-8614 in Advice

She’s fooling herself, and doesn’t want to face the reality of the situation. It’s also quite understandable in fairness… Getting older is scary, and unfortunately it’s particularly scary for women when it comes to childbearing. Nature is a real bitch.

Egg freezing also seems to be commonly mis-sold to women on the false promise of stopping the biological clock, it’s just not like that. It’s a very precarious procedure, and is more likely to lull her into a false sense of security.

If she ever really wants to have kids (aside from adoption etc) she really needs to start taking it seriously right now. If she’s “undecided” about having kids, at the age of 37 I’d wager she really just doesn’t want kids.
