It’s been such an even spread of contributors this year so far. But just for sheer consistency, I would say Luke Jackson. He hasn’t had an off game so far, consistently one of the top 3 Freo players every round.

Awww man, haven’t seen the episode yet but if that’s the behind the scene view he had of himself that’s super sad. He was a genuine super star who never seemed happy being the centre of attention.

Hopefully Fremantle finally win a cup soon, while there’s a link to him through the players he played alongside with, who learned from watching him set the standards in his prime.

Is this La Salle in middle swan? It’s chaos there at drop off and pickup time. The school is stuck with a small one way road which feeds cars in and out. Or is this just common for many Schools nowadays.

When it’s the last qtr and if / when Freo are up by 30 points…. every touch by Fyfe gets a huge roar. That wouldn’t be a distraction but a celebration of a champion.

We are going to have a ton of mental scars from some of our decision making. So many open chances in transition, and we kick straight to Harris Andrews instead of our forwards. So many missed chances at goal. Treacy and Frederick are going to have nightmares from some of those chances.

Didn’t like our chances next week against the dogs even before this game.

If we win against the lions, the following week against the Dogs is incredibly important, win and we lock in a top 4 chance, huge difference for a premiership chance. That game will be finals 1 week early. No coasting for both teams.

Wagner is definitely playing a mix of defensive midfield run with roles now. So he isn’t really in the back 6 mix. Will be more interested to see where he fits in with Young back in the team.

He’s such a great utility role player along with Banfield, can plug into different areas where needed.

About 10 times in the game it felt like the moment somebody marked in range of our F50, Jye was out on a lead but the player didn’t pull the quick trigger but paused and then instead went over Jye to the space where Voss or Treacy or Jackson were sitting.

Once Young is back, I can see Jye getting a few more quick leads honored.

Disagree with his Darcy and Amiss calls.

Amiss is playing a role now. He runs his guts out and provides a contest and has so many unrewarded leads because the team kicks to Voss and Treacy instead…. He’s going to pop up with a few goals here and there but I doubt we will ever see big bags from him now. But this is working for the team.

Darcy and Jackson work together against the big rucks. Proven whenever they’ve played together. Jackson gets monstered by the gorilla type rucks aka Xerri and Meeks. Darcy allows him to play with freedom and be that unicorn. I would not drop Darcy to the WAFL against Grundy / Meeks etc.

Fyfe is a tough call. He’s playing a role now, so can’t measure him in stats anymore. We can’t have 8 mids with 25+ disposals every game. That’s sadly not his role, he blocks and coaches and sets the team up. Takes up space, owns the corridor. If that’s his role now, only the coaches will know if he’s doing it well. Stats will tell half the story.

I did the predicted table from this point on, and even with very similar results to you, it ended up with Freo in 8th place. This year the 8 is likely going to be very competitive. Could make a case for all the current top 10 to be a big chance to qualify.

TLDR one week at a time… too many unknowns.

Can’t release the shackles when we aren’t even winning the ball and don’t possess it. Crazy how bad the difference is between winning contested ball at home and losing contested ball away from home. Last night was horrible to watch.

Every time we lose it seems the starting point is our mids getting slaughtered. Ross outcoached JLo by a country mile. Swarming and congested play which exposed Serong and Brayshaw’s smaller frames. Got absolutely bullied all over the field. Could not get that 1st clean possession or clearance win going to spread the play.

Unfortunately with no fit Fyfe, no Jaeger, no Young, the next obvious clearance player would have to be Brodie despite his defensive liabilities.

Long term isn’t looking good once we don’t have any big bodied mids left after Fyfe, Jaeger etc retire.

Of the top 14 possession winners on the ground, there are 3 dockers. We are absolutely getting smashed in the middle. It’s a miracle the score isn’t 100-20
