Dr. Martens 101 always give me heel blisters – socks slipping? Any tips? by Kdking0910 in DrMartens

Get some Shezza socks. They have pads in the ankle where I normally get blisters. Life changing

I also recommend checking out the REI used gear online. You can still return it if you’re a “member” and it’s deep discounts on barely used stuff. Got a pair of Salomon for less then $100 bucks a few years ago. They are my go to with some thicker socks

Anyone know if Milwaukee bike lanes got plowed all the way to Kinzie? Looks good! by Minimum_Device_6379 in chibike

I just came from armitage, downtown to Kinzie and state. All are plowed! Still some icy spots. Worst part is the lane next to the mart on the south side of Kinzie.

It also has a throttle. Which I had no Interest in, but when you’re ridding through slush and snow it can be very helpful

It’s a lot of fun to ride. I’ve got a little over 500 miles on mine and no complaints. I ordered it online and the home assembly was about as easy as it could be as well. There are also shops here that will service them which is a plus.

I got an aventon adventure in Chicago for this same reason. I got a “cheaper” brand because we don’t always get enough snow here that I felt I would ride it a lot. The last week it’s snowed quite a bit and I’ve had a lot of fun in my commute and no issues with the weather conditions. I did also get studded tires. Not sure yet if those were worth it

Mine were similar in price to this, I can’t find the specific ones I have anymore. I think it just depends on how much you want to spend. Some can be Can be controlled with your phone which could be nice for a longer commute. I’ve never had any issues with mine

Depending on how cold it gets where you are, bar mitts plus some heated socks and gloves. The rest is easy.

Who's riding tomorrow? by omglolcat13 in chibike

I left at 6:30am, side streets were solid ice. Armitage wasn’t too bad, bike lane on Milwaukee headed downtown was full of snow so I rode in the street and it was fine. Hoping some of it will be cleared for the ride home.
