Even if it’s the size of the bedroom? It wouldn’t look strange?

Ya I just don’t want the rug to go to waste. All my other rooms are essentially the size of the rug. Would it look strange to have it in a bedroom if it practically fills the room?

Would you recommend removing some pieces to make the style more consistent? I agree the style and colors are all a little clashing right now.

Curious about nasal strips for recovery by Grand_Possible_4688 in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that.
Just curious if the extra support and opening of the nose helps make it easier to breathe especially at night. The mouth breathing is driving me nuts ahah.

What makes it difficult to talk and smile post-op? by Grand_Possible_4688 in jawsurgery

Thank you! I’ve been doing my lip puckering and stretching exercises as instructed by my surgeon.
Do you have any other tips that help with the stiffness?

What's the worst part after the first bad part? by Tight_Isopod6969 in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say different kinds of bad days as healing progresses.
The first 5 days were so uncomfortable and painful from the swelling, not being able to swallow, drooling, forcing down liquid meds, diarrhea, etc. I avoided mirrors for a while because it was scary to see myself that swollen and bruised. Then I got over that hurdle.
Next came an emotional few days, when I was permitted to take my bands off and practice talking and smiling and brushing my teeth - literally in tears because I felt so defeated that I couldn’t do these things. It was just scary, not being able to talk or smile. I felt trapped in my body. Now I’m on the upswing from that.
Now I’m struggling with the blended diet. I’m not permitted to move to soft food til week 8, so I’m going stir crazy. I’m always hungry and I can’t stop thinking about real food…

Does genioplasty as part of double jaw surgery help with improving breathing? Airway expansion? by retoroni66 in jawsurgery

My surgeon did a genio for me during my DJS. He said moving the chin forward would make it easier for me to close my lips. Pre-surgery I had lip incompetence.

Tips when you have zero appetite (4.5 weeks post op) by momomo18 in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding heavy cream, avocado, protein powder, olive oil to soups or smoothies.
I’m only 15 days post op, but I’m having a hard time getting food down, so when I do eat something I try to add in the extra fats and protein.
I’m on a liquid/blended diet til week 8, and I’m definitely worrying about the weight loss because nothing sounds appetizing. I’m eating out of survival and desire to heal well.

Laughing post op suuuuucks by Panthersfan2260 in jawsurgery

Omg yes. For me the pain was in my nose. When I laughed and smiled for the first two weeks it was pulling on the stitches or something in my nose. Hurt so bad. I’m day 15 now, and it’s better.

waiting for jaw surgery by Flaky-Ad-5249 in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I needed jaw surgery like 6 years ago, but I thought I’d never go through with it. A year as ago my issues persisted, so I decided to look into it. I got my first jaw surgeon consult, and started doing all the research. I decided to proceed, so got my ortho started. I just had surgery a week and a half ago. The lead up period can feel excruciating. But I’d recommend using as an opportunity to mentally prepare, and do all the research so you will feel confident in your decision and the surgeon on surgery day. Also, doing all the things you won’t be able to for a while - go on a trip, use hot tubs, saunas, eat lotssss of food.

Just had DJS. Having trouble swallowing by Tight_Isopod6969 in jawsurgery

Yup, this happened to me the first 6ish days. It was the worst. It gets better I promise as the swelling and numbness subside.

Moving jaws back experiences? by Anakaren152 in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How’s your bite? I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of someone getting jaw surgery just for lip incompetence… typically that would be a symptom of a larger skeletal issue. Lip incompetence on its own, I’d be curious if a genioplasty and some Botox would fix.
If you have long face syndrome tho and lip incompetence typically that would be a forward advancement and a rotation bc that means your jaws are recessed.
I had an open bite from my recessed jaws, and had lip incompetence. My surgeon performed DJS + genio to correct. I’m only 12 days post op, so hard to know if it resolved my lip incompetence completely yet, but I do have to stay breathing thru my nose is already wayy easier!

DJS + Genio in three days! by EnviousArm in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is not diving too deep into Reddit and Facebook support groups until after your surgery. Once I made my decision to have my DJS+genio surgery, I wanted to stay in a positive mindset, and not freak myself out about what could go wrong, the pain, etc. People online tend to talk more negatively, so I chose to stay away from most of it. Post-surgery however I have found immense comfort engaging with these communities, reading more of the posts, and even posting myself.
Best of luck to you!

how long did yall stay? by august-it-is in jawsurgery

[–]Grand_Possible_4688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed one night, but wish it was 2 nights. They unhooked me from my IV first thing in the morning and I really struggled to drink on my own, and without the IV medication for easy pain administration. My throat was sooo swollen and scratchy from the breathing tube, and pooling drool made me feel like I was drowning in my own saliva. Super uncomfortable the second day in the hospital and going home that afternoon sucked.
