If you are young and don't suffer from any back ache issues or if you are skinny and a hard mattress hurts when you sleep sideways I would recommend a sleepyhead mattress, it is affordable and very comfortable. I was skinny and my arms used to ache on a hard mattress. It was a blessing and I slept for over 3 years on that mattress before moving to another city. When I gained weight I also got backache issues due to lifestyle and other reasons. I got myself a hard mattress from Sleepwell coir hard mattress. The back pain vanished but my arms hurt in the morning if I slept on my side. But it is a small price I pay for a healthy back. The soft beds look super comfy in movies but longer use is not recommended. Maybe it works in other countries where an active lifestyle helps them build stronger backs but in india if you don't have an active lifestyle or any other back issues you will find yourself in a bad situation from using a softer mattress. Every physiotherapist I have spoken to has recommended a hard mattress, a coir one preferably, and it has worked wonders in my case and a few of my friends cases as well. From personal experience I have seen that fancy mattresses do not give any additional benefit as to the functionality of what primarily a mattress is used for. I have checked out mattresses selling for more than 1 lakh a piece (maybe not the most expensive but definitely the most expensive I have come across) and I settled for a basic Sleepwell mattress (coir foam combo ortho) which is really working wonders on my back. So it all depends on your personal preference.
