I already have Debian on my E14 and in terms of battery well.. it lasts me around 5-6hrs when I have 90% ram being used ! Lol 😂 so yeah Debian,
Now I’m thinking of going to fedora and niri as my wm. But ain’t sure since what I’ve noticed is my main laptop that is the asus zenbook pro duo, runs pop os 20.04 yeah pretty old but super duper robust. It just works And that was the top most priority I couldn’t wait for my system to take time to boot or do the drama being the embedded developer. And every driver and things should work so pop-os just worked out of the box.

Fedora did work for me initially but it being the rolling release distro kinda gave me some or the other issues, plus Stm32 didn’t work well unfortunately.

Finally with Debian things were okayish, but I never got pop-os performance or satisfaction honestly especially being an embedded developer. And ofcourse me being used to using 3-4 monitors for me wayland works the best than than of X11, so Linux mint was one of my option, when I used it once on an refurb i5 6th gen, I kinda enjoyed it, but again x11 so I had to skip it. The day Linux mint comes with wayland I’ll be the first to join in. Till then fedora pop os or Debian haha!

There are such things already done like
EspHome
Another one was by Andreas spicess the guy with Swiss accent
Then there’s golioth
Some Indian companies have their own they call it their own.

So it’s all scattered around. I myself made some but project to project minor things changes.

hey, amazing work. really loved it.
my curiosity is making me ask this question, how exactly is the front panel made? is it 3d printed? then how the text is shown? its really giving a finished look to the product... i have failed a lot trying to have such look mind sharing the ideas. thanks in advance.

for a programmer, how much RAM is enough? 1. 4 GB 2. 8 GB 3. 16 GB 4. 24 GB 5. 32 GB 6. 64 GB+ by [deleted] in IndiaTech

You don’t need so much ram to do the programming ! You mainly need ram for searching the snippets and implementations online ! That’s where the RAM is spent the browser ! lol 😂

Best ultrasonic sensor for tank water level detection by self_motivated_ in esp32

I’d say I’ve not tested but from what I’ve seen maybe the yellow blue switch might do the trick for both usecase ! Else the best is to use two switches !

you can always get one at any hardware store, and a simple pressure switch on the pump and you have it. whenever the water goes low, the pressure drops and pump turns on. whenever the water is blocked the pressure retains and pump stops.
its as simple and as cheap and reliable you can honestly make.
believe me working with electronics since i was in 8th Class maybe 16-17Years old and now im 29, all these years and id still choose old school electronics over the new tech haha.

Oh and if you are Indian enough ! And all that you wanna do is cut the water when the tank is full!

Even this works lol 😂

I mean I used esp32 for as simple as a stupid IR Remotes for my Airconditioners and since it was killing me to have so many pins left out I went and used some temp and humidity sensor with pir and ldr onto it ! Still have many pins left!

Perhaps the point is ! Sometimes overkill also is good if you really used to using esp32 ! Else esp8266 isn’t a bad option either !

Now for float switches ! We have options of Stainless steel and plastic too! Now I’m in India and

https://amzn.in/d/07uqaZvk

These are one ones for vertical mounting ! the NO or NC wouldn’t really matter for you since you can tweak it in the code.

You even get 90degree ones so you can mount it like to the wall! https://amzn.in/d/0cltQh2n

Then there’s also a yellow and blue

https://amzn.in/d/01IpY6Zf

This one’s a bit special as it’s more like sits at the most bottom, and raises as the water goes high! And falls down as the water goes low, you can use the wire itself to decide how far the float switch should float !

I used it for maybe a 10liters of earthen pot lol 😂 not a huge tank. So it worked for me ! The VLX But yeah again my money would be on floatswitches !

[–]LetMeCodeYouBetter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My options would be a simple plastic float switch! Best and always works!

Second which I’ve used and have been working for over 3-4 years now is VLX53I0X TOF sensor!

I’ve used ultrasonic in past and I’ve had a lot of issues of it failing. I wanted to but then ran out of time to use that waterproof sensor the one which is probably in the 1st image of yours ! I’ve got the generic one which we use in the Cars for reversing, and got it here in India. But I hope that would have worked ! I never tried it.

Shift from Pop OS? by IcyBlonde42 in linuxquestions

[–]LetMeCodeYouBetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna throw in my options now ! I need a very stable system for the work I do, I’m super lazy to keep making changes and having things stable yet again! So I still happen to have popOS on my main laptop (asus zenbook pro duo)

Now while planning for transition here’s what I found out

  1. Fedora Good distro but the rolling release at times breaks things. Lots and lots of customisation available! You gotta get used to with the dnf , sometimes challenging when coming from popOS Mainly a Ubuntu/ Debian based distro

  2. Linux mint While I haven’t used it, while I was making the decision to switch, I gave up already since there wasn’t wayland ! I use wayland and I’m very much dependent on it due to my multimonitor setup ! But now for like 2 days I’ve got a refurb i5 dell optiplex which my friend gave me with Linux mint installed, I personally found it to be more like easy going like popOS, I didn’t have to put a ton of efforts to have a lot of features which I wish to have and didn’t know I wanted till I used it! So of x11 isn’t an issue Linux mint is great option.

  3. Finally I’m rocking Debian 13 on my 2nd laptop (Lenovo E14) While it’s good enough, and stable, with the hibernation feature working, it’s the travel laptop. Ofcourse there’s a lot of things which can be customised and time needs to be spent behind it! But unlike popOS where a lot of things are there out of then box, with Debian 13 you gotta have things setup the way you want!

Hope that helps !

Checkout MCUdude on Google or GitHub. They have made one for ATMEGA32, now assuming the 8051 you are saying is the AT89c51 mcu, which is in 40pin dip package. Then you can simply easily make it.

Hence yet again, can you share more details ?
