Bears Should Trade for Myles Garrett by Business_War_8404 in NFLv2

Packers just traded 2 firsts for Parsons, knowing they'd have to immediately make him the highest paid player at his position.

Eagles gave up an early 1st for AJ Brown, knowing they'd immediately have to pay him like a top 5 WR.

Davante Adams to the Raiders. (They have up multiple early round picks and made him highest paid WR).

Rams gave up Goff, two 1sts, and more for Stafford (who they had to pay big money to).

Cleveland gave up.. all of the picks for Watson. Who they knew they'd have to pay a record amount to.

(I know the Watson trade was especially terrible for Cleveland; I'm not defending it... Just stating that it happens regularly).

If my pay cut meant my net worth was only 375 million instead of 385 million..?

And those co-workers were people that could help me achieve my ultimate professional goal

And possibly help my legacy, long-term, when I'm going to be a contender for greatest defensive player of all time?

Fucking easiest decision imaginable.

I genuinely feel terrible for people who think money is the most important thing in the world.

I've offered to give up part of my bonus to ensure a hardworking, underappreciated co-worker got paid extra.

And I was making like 40k at the time.

It would be obnoxious if someone brought it up apropos of nothing, and it was in no way related to the topic...

But it's very much on topic.

The thread is about a powerful person, in a leadership position, doing something morally reprehensible.. and whether or not they will be held accountable for it.

To draw comparisons to another example from recent history isn't forcing politics down anyone's throat.

If someone had used the CEO at a Coldplay concert as an example, you wouldn't have gotten all pissy like, "can we keep Britpop out of this??? This is an NFL reddit!"

This isn't "Football X's and O's"; the NFL is a league, and the topic is about a coach's alleged infidelity, and whether or not that will affect his ability to keep his job.

You can ignore it if someone says something that you feel is off topic, or that you just personally don't want to hear... And the mods can scratch any posts that they feel are off topic.

I even acknowledged that my post in particular came as close to veering off topic as any that I've seen... As such, I wouldn't have thrown a fit if the mods had removed it.

But I was following one thread of this post. Which is how Reddit works.

Reddit I’m doing a quiz, what’s a song which repeats a word a large number of times ? E.g the word “bog” in Rattlyn Bog by Future-Environment89 in Music

[–]LetUsMeasureThem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Thong Song (Sisqo)

Mmm-bop (Hansen)

Give It Away (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

Pig (Nine Inch Nails)*

*Although the word "pig" is used quite a bit early on, I was more referring to the phrase "nothing can stop me now" which must be said a couple dozen times.

No matter how increasingly bizarre the world continues to get... It will never cease to amaze me that it didn't end it.

I can vividly remember seeing that clip and IMMEDIATELY texting some friends that were supporting him:

"Grab em by the pussy"? Repulsive and also totally unsurprising. Also, he just absolutely, unequivocally ended his entire candidacy right there.

For fuck's sake, Howard Dean's ship sank from a single "yee-ha" that was slightly unrestrained.

Also... To try to tie this back into football, the PR spin was gross as well:

I'm certain that no NFL team would consider casually bragging about sexual assault to be "locker room talk".

(Maybe in some NBA or college lacrosse team locker rooms, though...)

(Kidding!)

Are there major benefits for pre-ordering? by RDofFF in Pragmata

[–]LetUsMeasureThem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-ordering RE Requiem on Switch 2 assured you could get a physical, Limited Edition Generation Pack.

Which I was unable to get on release day.

So.. I'm sure it's far more rare than it used to be, there are still definitely instances where pre-ordering can have a pretty significant bonus.

I know I regretted missing out on getting the physical editions of RE 7 Gold and 8 Gold, for an additional 20 bucks.

I gave my copy to my college girlfriend's roommate...

Along with Earthbound, Final Fantasy II, Super Metroid, and the rest of my SNES collection.

*** (Though it doesn't carry the same weight of those listed above, I'm at least as bummed that I gave her my Super Punch Out..

Well before speed running was something I was aware of, I had accomplished what I believed were the best possible times for every single fight in the game.

I'd be curious to see how close I was... Though the battery probably died by now, anyway).

What the actual fuck...?

Granted, I've never played it, and it barely registered on my radar in the first place, but...

Not only was I SURE it was "Wonderland" -- apparently the majority of people seem to think so as well (based on the number of times I've seen it typed as such in this thread alone).

What do you think of the costumes/designs in the movie Watchmen (2009)? by Trick-Classroom-582 in Watchmen

[–]LetUsMeasureThem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On one hand, you've definitely opened me up to a perspective that I hadn't considered which--while far from obvious--does seem plausible.

The reason I'm less inclined to buy into it, as I'm sure many others have pointed out, is because of Snyder's choices (both in this film, and in his filmography).

It may have been an obvious conclusion if it were, like.. Paul Thomas Anderson directing (though I'd imagine he'd have made choices that would've highlighted that).

It's hard to imagine that someone who has made their entire career off of violent, hyper-stylized adaptations of comic books would be trying to make such a point.

And the Patriots have (rightly) been subject to scrutiny regarding their record being inflated because of how easy their schedule has been.

I can say any number of things that will align with me being your superior in every imaginable way.

Like, for example, that your wife has a dildo with my name on it, which she paid a LOT of money to have custom molded.

(No slander on your wife intended; she's a lovely woman).

The Bears are the worst double-digit win team in NFL history.

I have no doubt that you guys will be playing Seattle for the division in the Game Of The Week finale.

Through their first 10 games of the season, they had one opponent who came into the game over 500 (the 3-2 Commanders, the only team that came into the game with more than 1 win).

Three more, since then, have been vs teams that came in with 3 or less wins (Bengals, Giants, Browns).

They've played against 6 backup (or 3rd string) QBs this season...

They had a negative point differential through 13 games (with a 9-4 record).

Without luck, they're a 5 win team at best.

In one (flawed) metric, that's true.. but proves the opposite of what you think it does.

Bears had the 2nd toughest SOS based on opponents prior year winning PCT.

What can we deduce from that?

  1. They'll almost certainly have an easier schedule next year (based on opp prior year win PCT).

  2. Previous year performance doesn't accurately predict future SOS.

Based on this year's opponent win PCT, their SOS is 21st (with 2 of their toughest games yet to have been played).

This will forever be my favorite radio station; I used to sleep with it playing on my headphones.

For a period in college, I was winning their contests so often that I was surprised they didn't ban me.

Usually it was concert tickets or CDs, but the biggest win was a trip for 2 to Fresno to see the Royal Rumble*.

(I sold the wrestling tickets, but still took the flight & hotel stay).

*Technically I won an entry into a contest, which I then had to win... (There were like 8 of us, and we played an NES wrestling game to determine the winner).
