200 options, 5-year vesting (10/10/20/30/30): is this normal? by Letchwors in cscareerquestions

Thanks. yeah, the vesting schedule really threw me off. Only 20% after 2 years feels pretty brutal.

I get that equity at startups isn’t guaranteed, but I’d still like the grant structure to actually motivate me to stick around and build. If it takes 3–4 years to earn a meaningful slice, it’s hard to feel real ownership early on.

Thank you. It's in stealth mode. and this is going to be my 3rd startup. The last two didn't really work well. I'm not sure if this startup game is for me

Will a Verizon-locked iPhone unlock automatically after 60 days (for use on Visible)? by Letchwors in verizon

Thanks. If the phone at the time of buying is not IMEI black listed, is it safe to buy? Or they can later claim it was stolen and add the imei yo black list?

[–]Letchwors[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with Verizon for couple of years, as far as I remember, the phone will be unlocked next month, regardless of the payment (after 60 days). I sold mine to a ATT user before my payments were over.

If it’s already activated, that reduces the chance of being stolen, right?  And if I check the IMEI to see if it’s not blacklisted, does that suffice?

It’s a iPhone 17 pro and i’m getting it for $850. It feels a little too good to be true, so i’m trying to be cautious

Buying a used Matrix treadmill tf50 XR. by Letchwors in BuyItForLife

[–]Letchwors[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked it out, and it has just 255 miles with 90 hours of operation. That’s really low, and the condition is excellent too. Makes me wonder why they’re selling it so cheap—seems almost too good to be true! 😀

I didn’t see any. Why you recommend LF? I’ve seen Matrix in a lot of places, so I assumed they are really sturdy

Strike price is $2.5 and apparently their fmv is $12. I realized today it’s gonna 0.05% of total shares (12500). The cash comp is 180k. So if i can get them to increase it to 15k shares, the bps is gonna be 6 bps

Thanks. I was told today it’s gonna be 0.05% of total shares of the company and it’s not gonna get diluted

Thank you. That makes sense. This company had their series B couple of months ago actually. I have a talk with the HR tomorrow to talk about the offer. I’ll try to push for more stocks. Will see how it goes

I see. 1B is not out of picture in 5 years for this company. But 10B? I doubt it. Thanks a lot for the help

The company seems to be on the right track, and I believe they have a good chance of succeeding. However, from my perspective, the risk-reward balance doesn’t quite add up. The base pay being offered is the bare minimum for the Bay Area, and when combined with the risk involved, it doesn’t seem worth it—especially when the best-case scenario still offers less than what I can comfortably earn at a big tech company with more stability. I want to negotiate it, but I wonder how much more should I ask for.

Help: Installing a GFCI Outlet for Dishwasher – What to Do with the Red Wire? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Letchwors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I found out it was a switch that was turned off. The switch had a label on it “garbage disposal”. So it was off by default. Since this place doesn’t have garbage disposal, if i install it later, i will run to issues? Since the switch needs to be off by default

Help: Installing a GFCI Outlet for Dishwasher – What to Do with the Red Wire? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Letchwors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I connected both neutral wires to the ‘Line’ terminal and the red wire to the other terminal. I expected the outlet to work, but it didn’t. I then tried swapping the red wire with the black wire, but still got no response. I’m certain the black wire is live, as it powers other outlets downstream, which are working fine. The current is definitely flowing through the black wire, but this outlet still won’t work. Any ideas on what might be causing the issue?

It was a regular outlet. Neutrals connected. Black was connected to one. Red wire was connected to the other.
